My mum nicknamed her old cat the 'immortal' cat. She was the most evil thing ever and actually tried to leap at your throats. Her name was Mischief and she was really old when she died. My mum also liked to call her 'Satan's cat' because of Mischief's psychotic behavior. Mischief's behavior actually lead to my other Uncle refusing to go over to my mum's house. Whoops.

My cat lived until she was twenty-four :) She passed away a month or two ago but I saw it coming so I wasn't that upset. It's been strange not seeing her around the house because she's always been there and we used to joke that she was never going to die. She suffered a bit in her last years so I'm glad her pain is finally over.

That's really nice to know, I was considering giving my 2 month old some and now I'll know to wait a bit more!
Is there some science behind this?

Actually the oldest cat on record lived to be 38. And the oldest known cat currently alive is 26 years old.

I'm a bit worried about my oldest baby. He's turning 12 this year, but he seems to not like walking anymore. I know that sleeping a lot and lying down a lot is normal for cats, especially when they reach "senior" age, but it just seems like his legs kinda.. arch? a little? when he walks. I don't really know how to explain this and it's hard to get him to walk on command to get a video or something. He's been very overweight for most of his life (around 10kg), before losing a lot of weight (we don't really know why) and currently weighs around 5.1kg. But he's previously never had trouble walking or anything. He still jumps on chairs and beds, so I'm sure it's not that bad, but I'm just a bit scared over my best friend possibly getting age related problems.

No matter what though, your cat may not be physically with you forever...

but they will be with you spiritually.

If your cat has suddenly lost that much weight for no apparent reason, I'd get him to a vets.

I was wrong about the reason, it's actually a genetic factor that determines if a cat responds to catnip or not. That genetic factor doesn't make itself present until the cat is 3-6 months old.

The moment you know you're crazy...

You put a voice recorder in your house...
and play it...

your cats must be thinking that they're going crazy

This happened already a year ago and back then we had no means to get him to the vet. But during that time, and still today, he seems completely fine. Like you'd never even guess he used to weigh twice as much as he does now.
I have considered taking him to the vet now, but that in itself presents some problems. Like getting a large cat into a carrying box barely bigger than him. Hoping that it supports his weight. And then actually getting him from point A to point B by taking a bus and walking. And then getting him back into the box to carry him home... And even if I did take him, there's not much they could help him with if anything he has was due to his age.

Kasey, my fat cat that I mentioned before, actually lost a bit of weight before and never gained it back, and we were kind of worried at first, but he still looked fine, and acted like himself. (Fat,lazy, lovable, and a purrer)

My elderly cats are fifteen (as I mentioned before) but they forget where their food bowls are and puke sometimes. But, that's probably all the spicy food they eat. Uh, there was this horrid time once. Pickles sleeps on my bed and I was asleep, when my mum came and woke me up, telling me to move very slowly away. Turns out, Pickles had puked right near my face. Had I moved even an inch, I would have had it all on me *shudder*

Bless them, they are going slightly crazy, but they are quite old, so I can't really blame them. It's actually really lucky that they're this age. My parents brought them as six week old kittens from this horrid place. Both of them nearly died and had to be taken to the vets. They recovered and are now healthy and lovable! Before any of you go crazy, my parents are very experienced and listened to everything the vets said. My mum owned two cats prior and my dad and his family raised and rescued abandoned/neglected cats. So, they were more than ready to handle two under age kittens. Poor cats xx
