Char, Pictus need at least 90 gallons ono
which is why I don't have one

Platies are always a nice colourful choice as long as you don't mind babies. They don't breed too much though.

Ah, yeah, I think I'm leaving out the danios ;o; I got some advice from a couple other people and apparently they wouldn't be ideal x3 Thanks for the heads up!

Woah, really? O_o My petsmart must be way off then? Unless there are different species?
At the actual store & online they say they need 29 gallons ; o ;

Everywhere I've read says 70-90 gallons. I don't trust petsmart for fish advice XP

    Well, good point X3 That seems like an awful lot though, considering that they're only 4-6 inches fullgrown? I guess they're really active swimmers?

I've read they get up to 12 inches XP
It could be a different type but I swear the ones I've looked at are the smallest.

Aha! I think it's an issue of 4-lined pictus vs spotted <:
The Four-lined Pimodella is often confused with its relative the Pictus Pimodella or Pictus Cat Pimelodus pictus. However the Four-lined Pimelodus doesn't have the spotted patterning of the Pictus catfish. Also it is a much larger catfish, reaching about 8 inches (20 cm) in the aquarium while the Pictus Pimelodus only reaches only about 4 1/2 inches (11 cm) in the aquarium.

I can't find another good site though, so I may have mixed some info XP
But I'd still only suggest getting one for that tank.

    That's so weird! Mixed messages for sure X3
    I'll only get one, then. Thanks for the heads up haha ^w^

    I'm so so happy ; u ; I talked with my parents tonight and convinced them to let me get a 30 gallon tank! Good-bye, cramped 5-gallons ;D ~ <3

    So this is my plan so far, using Aquadviser + the stock of my local fish store uwu;
    It's at 84%? But idk if I really want the dwarf gouramis (I especially don't want them to be harassed by each other or the pictus) and without them it's at 74% ~
    I just want to add some kinda really pretty, colorful fish to the tank n__n

    1 x Golden dojo loach
    1 x Pictus catfish (spotted)
    3 x Peppered Cory Catfish (or maybe emerald; is there a difference in the species besides the color? ;O;)
    2 x Dwarf Gourami

    Hm, any suggestions for what fish to be added (or removed, if the current fish wouldn't get along well?)
    I'm kind of tempted to add an angelfish (in place of the gouramis, of course, not in addition xD) but I dunno how it would get along with the other fish ; uu ;

I am very sad to say. Norman the third is no longer my fish. I had to move and he couldn't go across the border. so he is now with a dear friend of mine.

Hopefully tomorrow I am getting some feeder fish to teach my bichir how to hunt(tried giving him molly fry, he chased them but he is about as graceful as an elephant in a china shop with an ice floor, so it took him forever to make his first catch).

And before I get the whole "don't feed fish to fish" thing, bichirs are not designed like normal fish, and therefor don't catch the same diseases(ick cant survive on their bodies, and most parasites cant get to the flesh and die on the thick scales), plus bichirs are predators and why not let him hunt his own prey, it would give him something to do.

the little runt is now eating a full cube of frozen shrimp every other day. I give him an hour to eat it all because he is lazy and will start eating, then stop and meander about for a few minutes, then get back to eating, then after the main part is done he spends half an hour picking the morsels out of the gravel.

and also for you Oscar owners, what weird behaviors does your Oscar do? mine loves flowing water so we got him a ton of fans to give him what he wants, and if you turn them off(such as if it is lightning real bad and your power goes out) he floats in front of the fans and then shoots up and hits the lid of his tank to get your attention to the "disaster". He also likes chewing on his gravel and will spend hours inhaling a pebble, then swimming to the top of the tank, just to spit it out and chase it to the bottom again XD.
