The way i'd describe it is about the size of a bear skull. half of it looks like the top of a canine skull without the teeth, and a deteriorating back of the head. the other half looks like plain rock
I don't know what kind it is, but it was made for aquariums and looks like an eggshell white. I hope that whatever fish i get will like it.
Still waiting on my plant questions

How large should my plants be before getting fish? ('ve only done live plants one other time, but that was in a 10 gallon. this tank is considerably larger.)
How many flowers are healthy, or rather, can too many flowers hurt the tank?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also noticed a weird film on top of the water in my tank... almost like bubble soap. it gets disturbed when i stick something in there , and it sticks to the plants... i lifted a stem up and it had a bubble wand effect. could it be from plant food?
Also: i'll be sending the ungrown bulbs back tommarrow, so i can have more plants.
With the pant question: what fish are you looking at getting? If your getting Ones that dig up or eat the plans then maybe give them a couple of weeks to get them selves secured to the substrate, if your using bulbs wait untill they have grown abit and have a couple of leaves, I don't quite understand the flower question
For the other question, do you have a filter or bubbler running? The film may be from the water that has just been sitting
I have a filter running. i have a filter that does 35-60 gallons, the Fluval U4.
i am planning on getting swordtails, platys, mollies, guppies, and female betas, and cory cats, possibly dwarf gouramis. the plants have their roots in the substrate and stuff. the aponogetons are about 6 inches tall and the lilies about 1 or 2 i'd estimate. they all have lots of leaves, except one of the lilies which only has two.
the other question is "How many aquarium plant flowers is too many"

To follow up my reply to your post... You can allow your plant to flower but if you notice that the plant base and leaves are suffering or losing color you should cut them back. You could also supplement with extra fertilizers and co2 but that is a hobby on itself really.

If you want to use and you might consider building your substrate up with plant substrate underneath the sand, you can also build it up toward the back to help with the appearance but for the most part you should be able to use a wide variety of of plants using this method. c:

What are some plants that my mystery snail won't eat? I have a dwarf anubias which I love and he hasn't munched on it.

Sorry for all the typos, my phone likes to substitute and duplicate words. ^^;
But you're welcome, I've read loads of articles and books on planted aquariums so anything I can share from that and my own experiences I'll gladly do so.

Mine leaves my cryptocoryne species alone as well as my java ferns and they like the same coonditions that the anubias does. (:

@nemo Oh that's alright, and thanks for sharing

Sad to say I lost both angels last night and one of my striped Raphael catfish are missing... So I've only got one now unless I find the other. I'm thinking about getting some more flame tetras. How many do you think I should add? I've got:
35 gallon:
1 striped Raphael catfish unless I find the other
2 head and tail light tetras
8 flame tetras.
Any idea?
