I was told by everyone that bettas and ghost shrimp are fine, so we bought 15 ghost shrimp, and now we have none. All of our bettas attacked, killed, and ate the ghost shrimp.
So far I've found the most betta-compatible shrimp to be Indian Whisker Shrimp, they're just like ghost shrimp but several times larger and a tad more aggressive. They can hold their own against a betta, but aren't relentless and won't do much damage when defending themselves. They have the same care as a ghost shrimp, but prefer to eat algae wafers and fish flakes over most other foods. We have two males right now, each about 2" long, one's in a 6 gallon long with a large halfmoon betta male, and the other is in a 10 gallon standard with a dwarf halfmoon male and a small catfish.

Linked for sizeSomeone even put it up in their Walmart, and it'd be cook if people put them up other places, too. c:
Places like walmart that poster should be displayed, but if I saw one pop up at my work I'd take it down. Since I don't fully agree with everything on it and have had much better luck breaking a few of those rules, plus, I know my fish department team know their betta facts and something like this isn't needed.

I went to the pet store and after a reeeaaallllyyyy long time of looking I finally decided on two Gold Inca snails to go with my betta. I got a pack of algae wafers for them and I'm hoping they'll do well!
I also got some blood worms for Watermelon and he's loving 'em!
