So annoyed, most of the fish we got with the tank setup are so skiny its disgusting 2 of the bristlenose had fully concaved bellys the long fin male and female were both pretty skinny and didn't endup making it, 11 of the 12 corys died so there's only one left, I just think it was the stress of the move that was the last straw for some of them .
Apparently the guy said he was away for afew weeks and had a friend feeding them who must have missed afew tanks
I'm just so annoyed the fish had to go threw that I just want to throw a heap of food in and fatten them up but that would probably be worse for them, I gave the BN a couple of algae wafters the first day then half a cucumber the next they smashed it in no time
We don't want to keep all the fish it came with (mostly American cichlids) as we want to breed Africans but I don't feel comfortable selling them in their current state so I'm going to fatten them up first
The bigger cichlids are the only ones that seem to be fine

10 (Might be 15) Gallon: All 5 guppies looking healthy, last glass catfish looking okay. My 7 year old cory looks healthy as always.
30 Gallon: Goldfish and corys doing well
Betta Bowl: Betta doing well
75 Gallon: My sunfish and minnow are doing very well. They're both eating again, and they have so much space to swim.

How many fish and what types are they? : Quite a bit in the 80 litre now.
How long has it been running? : A few months.
Did you cycle it? : Yes.

What is the issue or question? : I removed my guppies from the 40 litre due to fry, and I wish to raise them. (I'll be getting a 180 litre soon, so no need for worrying about too much fish.) However I dont have a local pet store, but I'll be going to one on monday so I can get one of these breeders boxes or whatever its called to put them in. So my question is simply, is it fine to keep an overstocked tank untill monday?

They should be fine as long as you maintain good water quality. Maybe do an extra water change in a day or so.

well i have some very sad news my dads prize clown loach has died it was about 3 inches my dad had it since it was about 1 inch we do know how it died though he was doing a big water change/refill the power flickered this morning and he still hasnt shown me how to re-start his pump for the filter (its homemade) and that plus the water change just shocked the poor thing to death! ugg i feel horrable about it and my dad was thinking about changing over to a species tank of just the clowns i feel like i should go to the pet store and getting him three just to cheer him up to him his fish are more like old friends then pets!

How big is your dad's tank? Clown Loaches get huge.

I just got this huge 13 pound rock with three holes through all the way, and several caves (almost like someone sanded indents into it. The way i'd describe it is about the size of a bear skull. half of it looks like the top of a canine skull without the teeth, and a deteriorating back of the head. the other half looks like plain rock

I don't know what kind it is, but it was made for aquariums and looks like an eggshell white. I hope that whatever fish i get will like it.

I also noticed a weird film on top of the water in my tank... almost like bubble soap. it gets disturbed when i stick something in there , and it sticks to the plants... i lifted a stem up and it had a bubble wand effect. could it be from plant food?

Also: i'll be sending the ungrown bulbs back tommarrow, so i can have more plants.

So, when I was at Petco today to get some more fish, which we didn't for the twenty gallon since we're treating it just encase there is any fungus left in. Well, what happened was I was looking at the bettas and at the tipsy top there was a black betta. BLACK. The water was so filthy it looked like the foot had just rotted in there. So, we ended up getting him and moved him into the one and a half gallon with the filter, moving the smaller female into the new one and a half gallon. Oh my gosh. He's actually quite active, and his fins are huge. I just can't believe no one had taken him yet or could let the water get that dirty. I love my boy now He's actually a double tail as I just found out. Hopefully the King that I just moved down onto a lower shelf will get bought soon too.
I'm thinking of naming him Pitbull, after the rapper, not the breed. I love those doggies anyway.
I'll try to get the pictures uploaded soon as I can.
I really hope he survives. This boy is amazing. And I hope he gains some color in his fins, too. But I like the black too though. I'm thinking of possibly breeding Pitbull and my other betta Lucy together in about a year or two if we have a extra tank and some people to take the babies if all goes well.

With the pant question: what fish are you looking at getting? If your getting ones that dig up or eat the plants then maybe give them a couple of weeks to get them selves secured to the substrate, if your using bulbs wait untill they have grown abit and have a couple of leaves, I don't quite understand the flower question

For the other question, do you have a filter or bubbler running? The film may be from the water that has just been sitting

It sounds like you bought a limestone rock, which affects the hardness of your water and pH so just keep an eye on that, especially since it's so large. Plants are similar to fish and like a certain water quality so keep that in mind when you're setting up your planted aquarium.

What type of fish are you planning to put with your plants? I don't think they have to be a certain size before you start putting fish in unless it's a type of fish that will uproot or eat your plants. If they start to flower you can either let them do so or you can cut it so that nutrients stay in the base and leaves of the plant.

What fertilizer are you using? Sometimes if you don't wash plants well enough before putting them in a tank or if there are unhealthy leaves they will cause that film you're talking about. You have to keep a close eye on it because it can wipe out all fish or crustaceans within a few hours if your water quality gets out of whack.

I missed any previous question you may have had and what size tank and fish etc that you're working with, sorry. ^^;
