There are pet rabbits roaming the street in a town nearby me,, and the local DCO doesn't care : (
I tried explaining that they are not thriving and need help and she told me "well they appear to be healthy so they are fine" ..
I wish rabbits would be held to the same standard as dog or cats are !! I'm so frustrated rn .
The other DCO in the area found out that they get out often and just go back home eventually but like ??? If a dog was getting out constantly and roaming the streets only to go back home people would flip and be livid !!!

It's probably only dogs...
If it were a cat, you'd get "oh it probably belongs to somebody and maybe just went further from its home this time".
What a shame, poor buns

And it's so hard to catch them too.

Hey there! New to the thread (I've owned rabbits for a little over half a decade, and began small-scale breeding Netherland Dwarfs for show in the last year. Right now I've got a broken chestnut buck named Zuko and a black doe named Shadow) but thought I might answer your question. The cost is extremely variable, depending on what you're looking for. Breed, size, show quality, and individual breeders all play a factor in how much a rabbit will end up costing. The price range I generally see is anywhere from $25 (on the extremely low end to the upper hundreds, though the area I live in may also play a part in this.
Remember that (a) you can't show a doe you've just bought, if you're interested in that, and (b) if you don't find what you're looking for this time, don't worry! You can always try again, try another show, or connect with some of the breeders whose rabbits you like to get updated. Most breeders are very friendly

I agree, $25 for a lower end price and on up into the hundreds. Depends on quality and rarity of the breed in your area.

If I wanted a decent show/breeding quality rabbit, I was planning on spending at least $50 on my jersey woolies.

Thanks for your help. I am breeding for meat, not show. I actually just got to eat my first harvest. It was very good. I decided to just keep one of the litter.

Yesterday, I went to go trim one of my buns claws, Tortellini, and she was super cooperative getting out of the hutch and then I put her in the run to got the claw clippers when I can back, she ran away from me. When I finally got her I trimmed her forepaws and when I went to do the hind claws I saw that she had torn one of them out. I checked the hutch and found no sign of blood and I checked the run too but it is covered in really tall grass so I couldn't really see the ground. I stopped the bleeding and my parents and sister helped me put on gauze and bandage it. I'm going to take another look at it later today and clean it better. I wanted to give it time to close completely before doing that. I did spray it with an antiseptic yesterday. Has anyone else dealt with this and can give me some advice? I'm supposed to breed her on March 9 but I'm not sure if I should if she is still healing.

Does anyone else bunch their rabbitry name in with their other exotic husbandry names?
Like Pony Express Rabbitry could also be bunched in with Pony Express Rattery/Rabbitry and Exotics.
I don't really want to make and manage separate pages, so I'm thinking about creating 'albums' for each species.
It would be my rabbits, rats, gerbils and in the future ASF. I have a totally separate page for my larger species (kiko goats).
If this sounds impossible or someone has had a horrible time managing so many in one space please let me know before I make a horrible mistake lol

Clifford Sisters Rattery And Exotics !!
Ik they breed mainly rats and not rabbits, but they did the same thing you're talking about doing for your rabbitry- just with a rattery lol !
So it's not unheard of to smash your exotics breedings onto your rabbitry page !!
