Fairy tale: http://ancienthistory.about.com/library ... g_wolf.htm

I'm not talking about how much you 'hate' spiders, I'm talking about how you don't think their misunderstood. They are just as, if not more, misunderstood than wolves. We understand wolves, too. They are not 'mysterious creatures of the night', we've researched them. No, we do not know everything about them, but we don't know everything about spiders, either.

And without spiders, we'd be unable to take in a breath without inhaling bugs of some sort.

And you still seem to keep on ignoring my statement about how spiders instinctively attacking humans makes no sense whatsoever.

Thank you for the tale, but still, it is just using the wolf and a dog as an illustration.

And I am not ignoring your statements, but I do not believe that it is true that spiders do not attack instinctively, because they do in my opinion.

Also, birds, fish, and bats do as much insect culling as spiders, if not more. I live near a pig farm, unfortunately, so you can imagine how many flies are around, especially in the summer, and I see nothing in the spiders webs. But I see plenty in bird's mouths.

Anyway, we have different opinions.

They do not attack humans instinctively. It makes NO SENSE. They don't eat humans, humans can kill them by accidentally stepping on them. Why on earth would they ever feel the need to attack one? Why on earth would evolution deal them that card? Spiders would be dead. Evolution would not make them mindlessly attack something that could easily kill them and they can't eat, lol. And by not answering them, yes, you are ignoring them.

And omg really? So now, that you finally see the wolf as a good guy in a story, 'it's just a metaphor.' The hypocrisy astounds me! So the 'big bad wolf' is just being used as an illustration, too. You can't say wolves are evil because of the stories, but then say that the story where the wolf is good is just an illustration. It doesn't work that way. Pick one or another-- either all fairy tales are to be interpreted literally or they are all metaphors.

Birds, bats, and the like do help, but spiders outnumber them greatly. I see plenty of bugs in spiderwebs where I live.

You are simply ignoring facts and being a hypocrite.

Right, message to both of you.

I am not going to bother trying to prove my point any longer. I hoped that I'd actually found a place where I can give my opinion without people spanking me for it.

So, to me, I believe that what I say is true, and I have not just got my words of a site and am preaching them on here, no, I have found these things out with experience.

People are afraid of wolves, and mostly because of the stories and childish games that they have learnt, and are not interested to find out the truth. The "big bad wolf" is not an illustration of anything, it is just a story about wolves, and how evil they are. And you know what? People made these stories up because wolves weren't a threat to them, but their livestock, which wolves took in the night. So, superstitious people that they were, they thought they were demons, and made stories and fairy tales about them, and those stories have never disappeared.

I shall only come back to this topic if there is something positive that somebody posts, and that I can elaborate on.

You're not getting 'spanked' for your opinion. This thread is not an 'agree with me kthnxbai' thread, it's a debate thread. What you 'believe' goes against proven facts (like 'spiders attack humans instinctively omg!').

No, these stories are M-E-T-A-P-H-O-R-S. The boy who cried wolf? It tells children not to lie. Three little pigs? Tells children to work hard and you will be safe and happy. These are all stories that are meant to have morals. They are not just saying how evil wolves are. And I was mainly pointing out your hypocrisy-- in the story where the wolf's the good guy, it's 'just an illustration.' So, when the wolf is the villain, all of the tales are just out to portray wolves as mindless killers, but when he's finally good, 'oh it's just a story lol.'

And, back when these stories were made, it wasn't just 'a wolf ate my cow, looks like my income from ranching won't be as big this season.' It was, 'a wolf ate my cow, and our cow gave us milk, now my family will have no milk for years until we can get the money to buy a new cow.' And wolves, by eating livestock, ARE a threat to humans.

Like I said, this thread is for debating, not 'omg we should all agree that wolves are misunderstood!1!!!' If you expect everyone to agree with your opinion, you are not ready for the internet.

Silverfang; I agree. The only reason they used wolves were because wolves were most likely the most dangerous in the old days, and also, wolves were one of the only things that ate livestock instead of foxes.

I understand that people have different opinions, and that's fine, but what I find is wrong is people being rude when they have an opinion and disagree with the others, such as you.

And, I was talking about "the big bad wolf", which is the "father" of all the others, who do have a moral, but the wolf is the bad guy, and that's what I hate.

Wolves eat livestock because all their natural prey has gone because of settlements, domestic animals are less intelligent therefore easier to kill, they don't know about how much an animal matters to a human. And, wolves have a far deeper scar than humans have. Do you know what humans did because of anger and spite?

I am going to put this in small text, so that people who care about wolves do not become upset.

When ranchers caught a wolf, they would tie a rope to the bottom jaw, and another to the top of a wolf. When it was secure, the wolf would have it's jaws ripped apart by horses. Now tell me, could a wolf do anything like that to a human?

It's sick. Sick, sick, sick.

I don't mean to be rude, but they kind of could. They could tear humans apart.
