If he's in an unfiltered, unheated, small bowl/tank that would be why. Or, if you just got him, he could still be settling in.
We can help you if you fill out the form on the first page and tell us what kind of tank he's in.

Filling out this would be helpful c:
- Code: Select all
How many gallons is your tank? :
How many fish and what types are they? :
How long has it been running? :
Did you cycle it? :
If possible what are the ammonia nitrite and nitrate levels? :
What is the issue or question? :
Fish generally lose colour if they're stressed so it could be an issue with water quality or temperature. Does she have a heater and filter?
That font colour is really hard to see
You cannot eat love, nor buy a horse with it, nor warm your halls on a cold night

So, i finally convinced my mum to get a tank for the main floor of my house and we ended up with a pretty 10 gallon <3 its some what over stocked(mums fault, not mine), but no one is at each others throats, so where happy, what we have in there is
2 zebra danios
2 serpae tetra
2 yellow platties
3 orange platties
2 dwarf frogs
1 pleco (i know, but my mum was stubborn on this saying"it will be fine")
2 snails (i think there mystery snails)
1 yoyo loach
and finally 1 crowntail betta <3 hes a handsome little bugger

Thats obscenely overstocked and poorly stocked. Tetra and danio are shoaling fish.
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

Sunback Creations wrote:Got a new fish tank for my birthday a few weeks ago. I decided that I'd like to make it a HUGE cory tank. I have decided to buy every breed of cory my local pet stores have. Do I have a problem :?:
I also got 2 Albino cories and some other breed (sorry, can't remember) and one of the Albinos is missing a tail. Gonna name him Tailess if he survives...
How big is the tank?
Filter? Heater? Kind of substrate?
You won't have any problems with mixing breeds, but you need to make sure you get at least four of each breed you get. Yes, they can tell the difference between breeds. It sounds crazy, but I've witnessed it.
I'm your resident cory girl.. so ask me anything and I'll try to help. ^^

Hi guys.
If I have a tank that will have ten sawbwa barbs (or asian rummynose or whatever you want to call it, they're called different things as the common name) and five black neon tetras...
How many cories could or should I have in the tank?
I'd be using a siphon to do water changes anyway (once a week 20-40%), and cleaning the tank walls myself...It's more for them picking up food off and in plants? I can't have snails or shrimp or I would have those instead since they're probably better for the jobs I'd like help with.
Before you ask what size tank am I putting them in, just please assume that the tank will be big enough, a theoretical question I guess this is. Since I know my tank is large enough, I just can't remember the exact measurements at the moment.
EDIT: I'd be getting albino cories in case people wanted to know the exact species. Or maybe this spotted variety that I've seen stocked at a different store.
Also do goldfish change colours as they grow older? Two of the ones I own at the moment have changed colours. One had black edged fins and an almost entirely black tail, and now the fins are entirely orange like its body, and its tail only has the very edges black.
The other one, its orange has sort of faded in places as the scales have this darker tinge to it and its more speckled than before and much more multi-coloured.
I was wondering if the water levels would change their colours if age doesn't change their colours.
The other goldfish hasn't changed at all though.
The two that have changed colours were stressed at the store though, so I was wondering if maybe they're not stressed now which has caused their scales to change colour.
