Me and my mum have realized that the Alex has been following Flare to the point where they are practically touching, just under Flare's tail. Sometimes Alex will swim up past Flare's tail and touch it's side for a second or two then go back so he/she is just under Flare's tail again. I don't know what the genders of the fish are though, and was wondering if this could be caused by the fact that they might be opposite genders? I would love some help, as I need to know what to do, or if I should do anything at all.

Cheers,
Topsy

My koi and fancy goldfish do this to any new fish they meet. I think it has less to do with the drive to reproduce, and more to do with meeting a new fish. Ulfric, who is the oldest and most "dominant" of the goldfish (and Gave) treats all new fish like this- always right under their tail, following them around. He acted like this with Ivan, who is male, and General, who is female. Not sure what Atilla is, but Ulfric did the same when he first me him, and the same to Gabe (male koi).

I have a teeny tiny question. I have a baby cichlid that I caught when it was about half a centimeter long. he has been doing great in a one quart jar(all he needs as he is only a centimeter long now) but he has a bloated look to him and has some trouble holding his body constant. how to you fix this? I know with bettas you feed them a pea but he is so small(my smallest female betta could swallow him lol) that I don't think he can eat it. all he is eating right now is a crushed betta pellet once a day(a betta pellet lasts about half and hour as he is a slow eater, he just munches a little bit then gets distracted, then in about two minutes he is back for more lol).

First of all, is his...jar...being filtered?

no it is not but I am doing a water change every other day. I don't have a tiny filtered tank that he can live in atm(I am pretty sure my 12 inch Oscar would eat him or so forth). I did notice a few minutes ago that the place I caught him from had a lot of bloated dying fish that I have to wonder if he caught what they had...

Are his scales popping out a bit? If he's starting to look like a pinecone it could be dropsy. I don't think there's a cure.

I cant tell because he is so small. I don't think he will survive the night sadly :( . if he does it is a miracle but I don't think I can help him any...I gave him a better life than what most people would have(here if you catch a non native fish you have to kill it which means our waterways smell of dead fish, which may cause the other fish to die).

I am sad to say Pandora has past, it was a wounderful two years, and I miss her very much <3 Pandora. But now I get to nurse a fish back to health, a beta, a boy named Thor same age as Pandora is/was. He was white with purple specks but now hiss colours combined to make a greyish purple colour, he has a rotted fin as well, any idea how I can help him? Thank you! Me and his owner thank you very much!

What sized tank will you be keeping him in? Filtered/heated?
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

Its a 9 or 10 gallon, im thinking of lowering the water or putting him in a smaller tank , maybe 4 gallon and neither are heated but I can put him in Pandora's tank which has a light/heated and a filter but I would have to buy a new filter pad.

Found an ad for a cheap tank, can someone help me work out the volume? In either ltr or gals
I've tried a couple of online aquarum calculators, but got a different result from each.

Length: 61 inch
Width: 31 inch
Height: 69 inch

This picture on the add
