Well, my corries seem to spawn almost once a week, latest being earlier this week... This time I 'rescued' one corry egg from my tank to a separate box and I'm trying to raise it until it's big enough not to get eaten for sure. I was going to take another egg today, but it hatched before I could do so. :c But so did the one I had picked out earlier and the fry is alive. c: It's really small, but large enough to be visible in barebottom seethrough box. XD I basically just took small plastic box from kitchen, that mom uses for freezing stuff mostly, put some water from the tank(about half way) and one bit of plant plus the leaf with the egg. Now the whole thing floats partly on the tank surface and I did tie a string to it to keep it from moving. I know it could use airstone, but I don't have one, so fingers crossed... I probably will have to change some of the water daily, and I still have to figure out what to feed it. >_< But if I remember right the first 3-4 days baby corries get their nutrition from their yolk sac?
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

If I got females instead of a male, how many would be the best number and how large should the tank be? (assume that I could get a tank large enough for them). I didn't have a filter for the last tank

(the one gallon tank) and want to know what type is the best for bettas.
Absolute minimum of 2.5 gallons, but at least 5 is generally best. If you can go 10 or bigger he'd love that as well. Some people keep their bettas in things like 55 gallon community tanks c:
Any filter suitable for the tank size is fine but bettas generally do well with sponge filters since bettas aren't normally the strongest swimmers with all that finnage, or weak HOB filters or baffled stronger ones. Make sure you get a heater as well c:
For sorority tanks we don't know much about them other than they generally don't work out very well long term and can be quiet tricky to get right.
a short finned(plakat) betta defies the poor swimmer rule and the ones I've own love swimming against a current and are not overly lazy like long finned bettas are(a long finned betta in the same tank as my plakat was in enjoyed laying on the fan I had in there that I had unplugged so the bettas could use it as a "hammock"). while no one here recommends it I also keep bettas in groups(not for new people to the fish world to do as bettas can and will injure each other, but the fact that bettas always fight to the death is wrong as my bettas are never in tanks where they cannot escape from each other). ive kept a group of 7 bettas(six females and one male) in a 29 gallon tank and only had minor nipping between the females to see who was boss. ive also kept pairs(one male and one female) together in a large tank with no issues but only had one successful spawning(but leach looking worms killed them

) . I tried keeping just two females together but because there was not a huge amount of fish to spread the nipping out on they nearly killed each other(I put them in mild salt water and fed pieces of frozen shrimp for about a week and they were healthy again). the point is do what you wish but be careful and watch for injuries if you keep multiple bettas(slighty torn fins is not a major injury as most bettas tear their fins on anything lol, but a scratch or cut on the body can be serious if you don't take care of it.) if a betta in a group does get hurt simply take it out and stick it in a small tank with a teeny tiny amount of aquarium(I use marine because it is what I have on hand) salt as the minerals and vitamins will help heal the fish quickly and help prevent infection. I made this lon post just to make sure that people who wonder about this stuff have something to go by if they decide to attempt this(which, as I said earlier, I don not recommend for someone without experience with bettas and other semi-aggressive to aggressive fish).
from a proud betta and new world cichlid keeper(always wanted to say that

Yup yup, that's why we said things like 'generally' and 'aren't normally the best swimmers' rather than 'all bettas suck at swimming' or something c:
Lonin's guppies love swimming in the filter current as well and they have pretty long fins c:
You cannot eat love, nor buy a horse with it, nor warm your halls on a cold night

My question is in the picture.
How many gallons is your tank? : 2.5
How many fish and what types are they? : 1 betta
How long has it been running? : just cleaned it.
Did you cycle it? : -
If possible what are the ammonia nitrite and nitrate levels? : -
What is the issue or question? : in picture , please respond . I don't know if I'm being silly or if this is serious.
I think it may just be you moving the fish startling it causing his color to fade. I don't have light colored bettas like that so I do not know myself but that is my best bet.

His color is duling due to stress. Don't take him out of the tank?
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

I wouldn't but I have to when cleaning the tank... I put him in a cup of warm water and try to clean the tank quickly.. Is there anything else I can do to reduce stress?
