I feed my big doggy Blue Buffalo. It's actually pretty amazing. He seems healthier and more active.

The only problem is, our local stores don't sell Blue Buffalo cat food in bulk sizes, and we have four cats.. So we have no other choice but to buy them a large bag of Purina complete -.-'' I'm not too proud of it.

thats horrible that the government can waste so much but cant regulate what goes into pet food. We don't even feed out livestock storebought ood because of the nasty byproducts and dead animals they pack inside. Protien right?

I used to give my dogs Ol' Roy when they were pups. I switched to the Kirkland brand due to financial reasons and I'm glad I did it. For one, there is a huge improvement. My chihuahua's and rott's coat are oily and shiny. My chihuahua's gassed ceased, he no longer gets tear-stains, and he has more energy. My rottie's joints are no longer stiff and he is so, so aggressive (which in our case, is good). I treated them to Blue Buffalo once, can't even tel the difference.

Cardinal, could you do a review for cats? Mine currently eat MeowMix, is that good or bad?
If you've clicked on one of these pm me. You can have a free CS pet. :)

Meowmix is just as bad as Ol roy, if not worse because cats can are oblight carnivores which means they can not digest starches at all. Dogs are carnivores with omnivore tendencies, they have the ability to digest certain starches.

Check out catinfo.org

Also, why it is a good thing your rottie is aggressive? =)
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

Our local Kennel Gate petstore have started to get Taste of The Wild tinned food in. We got a small tin of the cat food for one of our Jill ferrets as a treat and comparing it to the current ferret food there on its ten times better.
I looked up what most ferret foods have in it and most don't even have the taurin that a ferret needs. TOTW cat has all the Vitamins and Minrals higher proten and equal fat to all the ferret foods ( turkey fat is used in Ferret food) no animal by products its also not made from grain it has the required amount of taurin and no ill effects. With the fresh meat and this they look good and don't seem to be constantly hungry which they were on the Ferret food ( Genesis would eat a hole rabbit )

Foods compared to:
Well none brands
James Well Beloved ( tried on this )
Alpha Ferret Feast ( what they were on )
Those two don't say what is in it unless you look on the pack and most pet stores don't like there brands scrutanised.
Lesser none brands.
Pets at Home Ferret Nuggets
Science diet Ferret.
And a few others

We also feed the cats the TOTW cat food and its done wounders for Zero who didn't seem to carry the weight on anything else. The vet is amazed he is looking so good as due to poor breeding he gets ill easly. I'm glad they started to get it over here as all my pets are fit and healthy and I don't think I will be changing anytime soon.

My cats eat Purina indoor cat chow... Is this good or bad?
Also, are there any HEALTHY animal foods out there that don't cost a lot of money?
[So like... 40 dollars and under maybe?]
[We're.. Pretty poor right now, and my dog's been living off of Beneful for years..]

Purina is terrible, sadly. I'm not that familiar with their cat foods, but at least with dog food, its full of byproducts, corns and grains.. I'd assume their cat food wouldn't be any different.

Orijen, Merricks, weruva, blue wilderness, wellness core, instinct, Evo, tase of the wild, ziwipeak, nutrisca, Evangers, acana... All are amazing foods. Tiki cat is also good, but as the name implies, cat only.

Sadly most good brands will cost over fifty for 30 lbs, dog food that is. I'm sure someone else could probably suggest the cheapest, yet healthiest brand, as while I'm familiar with the nutrition aspect I don't know the cost of all brands... But trust me, it's worth it. Paying ten or twenty more bucks means the dog will smell less, shed less, have more energy, have a healthier skin and coat and will even eat less... Which pays off expense wise in the long run. Dogs fed a crappy food need more kibble to get what they need nutritionally, but with higher end foods, they're getting what they need in a smaller amount. Pets fed a good diet are also at a lesser risk of multiple health issues... Such as allergies, organ failure and so on, so less vet bills.

I would pay more if I could. Again, financial problems. We can't exactly spend all of our money
on food for animals, even if we care about them so much. We need to eat too.
Believe me, I know how horrible this stuff is. My dog has so many skin problems..
All because of shampoo and food. //chibi sigh.
I know we need to switch. I'm not sure if my grandfather likes the idea, however..

Where I live, you can get a decent sized pack of Blue Buffalo Wilderness for about 30-40 dollars, depending on where you look. The huge ones cost $80, but perhaps it's something to look into? Blue Wilderness is a great dog food, imo. My dog is kept on a homemade diet, but I used to feed him Blue Wilderness and Taste of the Wild; they're both very good dog foods.
"Why do you look so sad?" "I'm thinking about the economy"

My Mother has now been converted to a healthy pet food believer. She used to be one of those "It's dog food. Dog food is dog food." people. However I convinced her to switch her cat to a healthier food and now she wouldn't ever switch him back! She saw so many improvements. He's 17 and he's got the energy of a kitten again, 24/7 he's either playing with sometime or looking for something to play with. He used to be underweight but is now a perfect weight. He also have a lot of bathroom problems and issues with throwing up a lot, all are completely gone.

She even helped me lead the charge to get a person in our house to not listen to the stupid vet and change the food they fed their cat. The vet advised her that since her cat was doing "Fine" on the nasty food that she was feeding, there was no need to switch. Excuse me, please explain what part of this overweight, aggressive, diabetic cat that weighs more than my dog is fine?!?! Luckily that vet left since then and was replaced with an awesome vet.
