Oh, I see. It just looked strange to me in the picture above.
This one looks more natural.
I think it was the size of the people or maybe the background that was throwing me off haha.
Just looked odd :3

I agree, Wolfgang is gorgeous.
His face is very unique {I love dark faced dogs!}

I've never personally seen his family, or the
rest of the dogs Wolf's breeder has produced.
But I do see that Wolfgang is different from
other 'champion' Akitas. I think that's a
good thing! It's great to have a unique dog.
I honestly can say that Wolfgang is, in
my opinion, the most gorgeous Akita
I've seen. And he seems like such a sweety!

You can see, in my post above, that I
never claimed to be a dog expert. I
literally know nothing about dog shows,
confirmation, breeders, or anything. All
of my knowledge about dogs is focused on
dog Shelters, identifying mixed breeds,
training mutts so they can be adopted, etc.

Thank you :)
Wolfgang looks different than show dogs because he couldn't be one. As much as his conformation might be correct (i honestly dont know if it is or not) or as pretty as he might be, he is a full coat which is a fault. He has slightly longer fur than the standard calls for. He could still be shown, but it is a fault. It makes him appear bulkier and fluffier. Full coats are common in American Akitas though.
This is his breeder http://fullmoonakitas.com/index.html Prissy is his mom, Optimus is his dad, Mika is his half aunt, Pixel is his half aunt, Deja is his half sister, Dreama is his sister/littermate, the new litter of pups are his half cousins.
This is his breeder's breeder. http://www.regaliaakitas.com/ Many of these dogs are related to him. Reva and Flag are his grandparents.

So, I honestly can't say if
his family is 'terrible looking' or not,
because I have nothing to compare
those dogs to. I think they are very
pretty dogs. I know now why Wolf
looked 'off' - His full coat. I couldn't
quite put my finger on it before.
I personally prefer Akitas with full
coats <3

There's an Akita mix at a shelter near
my town at the moment. Absolutely gorgeous
dog. Clicky

More champions:

@_@;; As you can see, not all champions are to breed standard.

I don't know anything about conformation on Akitas, which is why I focused on lack of full and proper health testing and titling, which I still don't have much (any) explanation for. If the others who DO know Akita conformation want to speak up, I'm sure they'll be fine with giving you a run-down of why they don't consider them to have decent conformation.

As for gorgeous...
Image
My Skoll was gorgeous. Did he have conformation faults, probably. I never stacked him because we were too busy working on other things, and I didn't care as long as they didn't cause him pain. But to me he was gorgeous. You can have pretty dogs with poor breeding. You can have well mannered dogs with poor breeding. You can have dogs that are every bit everything you ever wanted out of a dog, with poor breeding. I know Skoll was everything I could have ever asked for, and his breeder was not great.

When things like "you only care about having the perfect health tested or whatever dog" or "you just think your dogs are better than everyone else's" are said, you're ignoring that the majority of people in this thread have rescue or byb dogs and love them very much, faults and all. We understand you love your dogs too, of course you do.

Yeah, some people don't know Akitas can come in full coats and long coats, therefore I often get people saying "I didn't know Akitas were fluffy?" when they meet him. This also led to him being mistaken for a Chow when he was smaller, even though he looks NOTHING like a Chow, simply because he was red with a fluffy coat role assumed that.
A lot of people do prefer full coats and long coats as companions because they are often sold for less because of the fault and because they look like big teddy bears and a lot of people find the longer coat cuter lol. I'm not a huge fan of long coats because i dont think i could keeo up with all that fur, but I love the full coats and the standard coats.
Akita coats (Atleast in American Akitas) can vary A LOT. They can go from extremely short to extremely long. In any length they can be extremely plush and soft or very bristley. They also come in tons of colors, so there is a huge variety, which I love.

I understand the problems with his breeder with the health testing and stuff. At least he has strict contracts so none of his dogs end up in shelters or are rehomed, etc. He has yet to produce a dog with health problems from the many ive seen and there's even a 2 year health guarantee plus lifetime support.

Wow, just going back and relooking at Optimus and Flag I realize how much Wolfgang looks like them O.O I remember meeting Optimus before Wolf was born and it's just crazy how I basically saw then what my dog would look like and had no idea.

I told my friend that two yellow Labradors could make a black lab and she didn't believe me hahaha
And then I threw my hands up in the air and said "genetics!"
(I showed her that picture of the dog)

Did I ever tell you my brother
was scammed by a BYB?
He payed $800 for a MINI AUSSIE
who, at 11 weeks, is 20 lbs.
Serves him right for getting
a pup from a BYB, after I told
him not to go to that breeder,
that I'd direct him to a good
breeder that runs health tests
before they breed. Now, Bruno
the pup is the most aggressive
little puppy. He'll hump my dog,
he snarls at anyone who comes
near him when he has a toy,
he chewed completely through
a Boxer dog's cheek, and bit
my dog because she reprimanded
him for snarling at her. Now, they
moved away, and I can't work with
Bruno's issues anymore. I'm honestly
scared for Bruno, because;

A: He's unaltered
B: The place where they are living now
has an unaltered female GSD, and an
altered male GSD. A Very bonded pair,
and Red, the male, gets very possessive
over the female. Bruno can't control himself
around a female in heat {Which the female is
going into heat soon}
C: They have a human baby and they did not
introduce Bruno correctly to him, and now
whenever Bruno goes near the baby, he
gets kenneled.

They got Bruno, because all the animal shelters
near us wouldn't adopt out a dog to them because
they brought their baby along. To a stinky, germ riddled
dog shelter.

I have to point out that sometimes the reason something gets 'dropped' only to be picked back up later is because a lot of us have different schedules. I mean, I was just babysitting a two year old for the last 7 hours and he demands all of my attention when he's awake. (Literally, he demands I play with him if I turn my attention to something else for even a nanosecond.) Last night, I had to go to sleep right after responding so I could be well-rested for today. I'll be going to sleep even earlier tonight. Plus, I just plain don't like typing when I'm on my tablet so I might only say part of what I want to say and save the rest for later. If I respond at all.

Speaking of gorgeous dogs with some bad confirmation:
Image

Clemmy is a gorgeous dog. But she's not a gorgeous Boxer. She has confimational faults out of the wazoo. Even right down to her itty bitty misaligned front bottom teeth. Doesn't mean I don't think she's beautiful and wonderful (which I think would be pretty obvious since she's my favorite subject)

I'm honestly not going to bother looking further back on the thread because I'm deadbeat tired.
"Only ignorance! Only ignorance! How can you talk about only ignorance? Don't you know that it is the worst thing in the world, next to wickedness? - and which does the most mischief, heaven only knows. If people can say 'Oh! I did not know, I did not mean any harm,' they think it is all right."
