hey guys ! do you have any new year's resolutions for your dogs ? PLEASE tell me about all your dog goals
last year i put two titles on hazel . the year before i put one on her .

this year my goal is ten !!! we've really found a groove as a team and have gained a lot of confidence together . after going out to a few in person type events i've really been excited to jump deeper into sports with hazel .

we plan on doing rally, barn hunt, scent work, fast cat, maybe fetch, and hoping to get her cgc this year !
my biggest setback with the cgc was " greeting with friendly dog" but with how far hazel has come and after watching some evaluations i'm confident she can get it !

she currently has her bcat fdc tki

and just today i submitted her her vswb and her tka ! making me 20% of the way to my goal not even two weeks into the year !

here's a photo from her first fastcat event ! she got her bcat here, and will get her dcat in about 4-5 more runs

I don’t know if this really counts towards what you’re asking, but I want to get a service dog.

Otherwise, not really…The two dogs we have right now are technically both my mom’s dogs, but she tells me that the toy fox terrier is mine (she started doing that because I kept asking for a puppy), and she tells my sister that the Goldendoodle is hers (the Doodle actually even sleeps in sister’s room.)

I’ve convinced my parents before to say yes to service dogs, but they said our other animals had to pass away first. Then my mom went back on it and said we didn’t need them…She also says they’re too expensive. Our lawyer (one of two) found a bunch of non profits we could use, though. I think I convinced my mom again. She once again said we had to cute down on the number of animals though. I’m a bit annoyed she got to go out and get so many animals and I can’t even have one dog…I had a cat but he died young.

Anyway, yeah. Hopefully one day I’ll actually have a psychiatric service dog and hopefully my sister will as well. I’d be able to actually go places such as airports, because my family would rather fly than drive (but we do drive to places a lot), and I’d just have so much more peace of mind.

my labrador is turning two! and my partner and i have been training him to be a service dog since i picked him up as a puppy, so my goals for him would be to spend more time with him in "working dog mode" and actually putting the skills into practice. i'm still working on teaching him to retrieve specific objects for me. i would love to do more scent work and spend more time in the backcountry (XC ski/alpine skiing/snowshoeing) with him. and once i get back into a routine with my horse, i'll take him out on long trail rides with us.

my mini dachshund is turning one! my goals for him are to take him to the dog beach for the first time (he's only been to beach once as a puppy and LOVED it) and to take him to a weinerfest!! haha >:) he's been everywhere already, from the top of mountains to flying inside a private airplane! i've done a TON of work on him this first year and he's a GREAT pup. goal-wise i'll probably just work on more tricks with him. he already knows how to sit, shake, lay down, "sit pretty", speak, and rollover.

last but not least in my eight going on nine-year-old cocker spaniel x bichon mix. my goals for him are to have him on a regular grooming schedule (we fell out of our habit because i had lots of health issues this year and his hair grows FAST!) and to spend more time with him one-on-one and going out for private walks since he is my most anxious out of my three pups.

I don't have a goal for my dog except for her to stay the most cutest most amazing old lady baby of all time, but my personal dog-related goal this year is to rescue.
I'll be moving in with my partner later this year and my dog will remain with my dad as she's always been the most in love with him (to the level of separation anxiety if they're apart), so me and my partner agreed that I need a dog for when he's away working. Of course Eurasiers are my dream breed but I don't think it's wise to spend nearly £2k on a puppy when we have other things to save for and I really don't think I could get a puppy without feeling guilty when I cry so much browsing rescue websites — so this year I aim to adopt a rescue. I live in a no-pets building at the moment so it's going to be amazing having my cats back and a dog to go out with again.

and congrats to Hazel! I hope you both get those 10 titles you're aiming for!

I'm so excited, we will hopefully be rescuing a new puppy within the coming weeks!

trigger warning marked by XXXXXX - ends at second XXXXXX for dog loss, cancer, illness

XXXXXX
my dog delphine passed away in april last year after a sudden bout of illness. she was chronically ill prior with allergies, and they were very severe (she got many infections secondary to the allergies that we were managing as best we could) and was unable to be vaccinated. she got kennel cough as a result of this due to a neighbour of ours (we discovered recently) believing vaccinating animals was unneeded as they dont bring their dog out often. their dog also had kennel cough. delphines kennel cough revealed a cancerous tumor in her throat, which was too severe for chemo/radiation and the kennel cough made her ineligable for surgery.

the call to put her down was so hard, but, it would have been cruel to keep her alive at the same time to only suffer.
XXXXXX

my family is finally ready for a new dog, and we decided to get a puppy. the rescue center we adopted delphine from has a litter of 10 puppies and have one ready for us to visit. im so excited. we'll hopefully get to meet her sunday and go from there!

one goal is to get CAM and N.SPRD titles! my lab is very close to both of them.

i think it'd be cool to get her trick dog starter title as well, she knows the tricks required for it, but we've never competed in an actual ring, so i'm a bit nervous about the idea of that.

i'd love to get back into training scentwork as well, and maybe pick up bikejoring!

I am hoping to finish guide training with my service dog, who is doing really well. Other than that, I'd like to get her TKN title to go with her CGCA title. We DID get our adult guide harness this week!! It's incredible.

I'd also like to see about narrowing down my gear to what I actually use.
