does anyone have experience with tervuren's? I've been looking at a Groenendael and terv breeder and have been in contact with them about what kind of dog to expect. I know they are technically the same breed, but as they are the same breed as the malinois, I was wondering what kind of drive they have. I know of one groenendael puppy they've produced that is barely starting bitework but their other dogs are showline and agility dogs. I was wondering if anyone with experience can tell me what a tervuren's drive is like ? I didn't plan on getting one as I was waiting for a groenendael litter in about 2 years time, but the breeder has 2 grey males left without a wait list.

today is my Mazikeen's 2nd birthday ❤ she's a pretty independent pupper and super smart. she's grown into such a beautiful little lady. it's so funny seeing her now compared to when she was 4 weeks old and looked like an alien 😂

As a dog trainer, I can tell you the reason dog's don't "like getting their picture taken" is often because you are staring at them, and in dog language being stared at like that is a threat.

Hello, I’m a trainer and dog photographer! A lot of dogs are bothered by the sounds the camera makes (especially cameras with very loud shutters), or bothered by the fact the photographer appears to be staring at them. Sometimes it’s a combo. There’s definitely steps you can take to desensitize your dog to getting their photo taken.

While the Belgian shepherds are all technically the same breed, because of the way they have been bred, Groens, Laekens, and Tervs tend to not be as drivey as Malinois. In the US they are treated like their own separate breeds and not as many people breed the Groens, Laeks, and Tervs for high drive performance work as they do Malinois. I have no clue why, personally.
That being said, it’s possible to find a more high drive Groen, Laek, or Terv. It would just take more research and you would need to look specifically for working line breeders who actually compete with their dogs and strive for breeding and harnessing high drives.
I’ve been involved in IGP for years now and now I’m also getting into Mondioring. So far, I have only seen one Terv who had some very nice Malinois-like drive.

they're the same here, mals are used for bite sports more, but I do know of a very high drive fluffy mal, which seems more mal than terv, which is so confusing, however I assume people don't breed tervs, groenens, and laeks as it seems like there's a bit of a breed split there. that's a great photo of the terv, I never see them in a state like that! mondio ring is really tough, awesome that the terv is able to keep up.

So we got a puppy! Her name is Eevee and she’s a Border collie. I’ve never had the breed personally before but I’ve worked with my friends BCs before.

She’s got a LOT of character and hates her crate but LOVES her crinkle toys 😂
