We get raw, frozen soup bones from a beef farmer/ dog lover friend. Murray loves these things. I make him eat them outside because they are messy. He takes about two days to get all the meaty bits off wich I'm not concerned about at the moment because it's cold out. My question is, will this be okay in the summer or should I be worried about the meat spoiling when it's warm out? I'm thinking he will get them cleaned off faster in the warm weather but if he doesn't do I need to worry about the meat spoiling and making him sick?

Just stick em in the freezer to keep them fresh when he's not chewing on them. It's perfectly ok to refreeze meat intended for your dog ;3

Just be careful about the amount of raw bone your dog ingests each week. While raw bone is good for them, it is also really easy to overdo it as well. And too much bone can also leads to problems, besides too firm of poo lol xP

Thank you! Thats helpfull to know. I'll make sure to keep a close eye on his bowel movements. It takes over a week for them to disappear and even then I'm not sure if he's eaten it all or if he lost it in the snow XD

As long as the meat is striped off they should be perfectly fine. =) Otherwise, throwing them in the friddge/freezer is fine.. Also frozen bones are great for summer to keep him cool. <3

As Link said, to much bone can be a problem, if you notice his stool is white and chalky you may need to cut back. However, if your feeding kibble the fiber should counterbalance the bone.. ;D

I left my female boxer, Roxie, over at my fiance's parent's house and I worry for her even though they say she is looking fine, I fear they lie either way, I just want to see my baby fat and healthy again.. Any suggestions...? D:

Do you have any pictures? A boxer that young should naturally be lean and a bit of rib is completely healthy on a dog. People are to used to seeing fat dogs and assume its healthy, its not. As long as her muscle tone is good I wouldn't worry.

Although, any high-protein grain free food would be great. Earthborn, Taste of the Wild, and Before Grain are all great starting points.

Sadly, I do not. She looks so bad I am ashamed to take pictures, but I would to help her. By 'fat' I always mean not where her ribs and hip bones are showing.. I can send a picture in PM sometime tomorrow after school. But apparently it was so bad they called me about the police coming over because of the neighbors calling about unhealthy animals. She's a loving dog and doesn't eat much, we give her two scoops of Ol Roy's or Ever Pet, and apparently she's been making a bit of progress but I don't believe in it lately.. But I will mention that next time we go shopping. Thanks! <3

Oh God.. Ol Roy is like.. bottom of the barrel in dog foods. Its no wonder she's skinny.. x.x Its pretty much a bag of roadkill and saw dust, and thats being generous in the description.. Everpet looks just as bad.

I know. That's basically why I don't have faith in this process... Even worse when they were trying to feed both my boxer and a husky.. We're basically trying to find the cheapest way, but also being able to keep her healthy.

Ol Roy hs a new line out called Pure Beyond, the chicken being better than the lamb. Its $1 per pound. Canidae has Single Grain Protein Plus which is the best of their non-grain free lines. Taste of the Wild is $1.5 per pound. Earthborn is 1.6 per lb.

Really, though, they pay for themselves becasue you feed like.. half the amount and have to pay for fewer vet billed. =)

Oh! Oh! Kirklands! Its found only at Cosco and its pretty darn good food for the price AND it comes in grain free. If you order online theres also a food clled Victors thats pretty cheap and really great quality.

Oh! Oh! 4health!! it's a 35 pound bag for $36.99! (At least where I live) And it is a very good food (cardinal check that link =) ) You can find it at Tractor Supply Co. I'm planning on switching my dog to that because 1. my dad wants me to find a better priced food. 2. It seems to be what I am looking for also. here is a link to the food from there. http://tsc.tractorsupply.com/nav/cat3/p ... _dogfood/0

Thank you guys so much! <3 Hopefully we will be able to afford buying her food. My fiance is getting a job at a prison, which seems like it will be paying around a thousand or so each month. I may still get a picture on here of Roxie, I am pretty much against having her outside, but it is really not much of my choice since it is not my home she is living at..
