Opinions on Solid Gold?

I just have been curious because the company is based in my city, and I saw it in Petco and DogFancy magazine. It's one of the few that I've seen that has a grain-free lamb food, and it also has a beef variety, which my dog would probably like. { However, he doesn't like fish at all, so maybe nevermind. } Has anyone else ever heard of it, or could give an analysis of the ingredients?

here; i did the lamb one for you c:

Lamb, Lamb Meal, Brown Rice, Cracked Pearled Barley, Millet, Rice Bran, Oatmeal, Ocean Fish Meal, Canola Oil, Tomato Pomace, Flaxseed, Natural Flavor, Salmon Oil (source of DHA), Choline Chloride, Taurine, Dried Chicory Root, Parsley Flakes, Pumpkin Meal, Almond Oil, Sesame Oil, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Thyme, Blueberries, Cranberries, Carrots, Broccoli, Vitamin E Supplement, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Potassium Iodide, Thiamine Mononitrate, Manganese Proteinate, Manganous Oxide, Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin A Supplement, Biotin, Calcium Panthothenate, Manganese Sulfate, Sodium Selenite, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin D Supplement, Folic Acid

Lamb & lamb meal looks really good, wholesome along with the Ocean Fish Meal. It's great that they're some of the first listed ingredients. The fact that it's grain free is extremely good too.

There seems to be no alarming ingredients here (: I searched through all of them on this site, & nothing was written up about any of them.
Solid Gold looks like a very good choice~

Thank you!

A pity that we just bought that whole bag of Blue Buffalo, which isn't grain-free.

If you want to stick with Blue Buffalo you could go with Blue Buffalo Wilderness, that version is grain free.
{ & I'm not really sure about this, it may depend if you've opened it or not, but perhaps you could return it to the store ? }

Yeah, we kind of already opened it...unfortunately.
We started out with the Science Diet we received from the shelter, then switched to Natural Balance { gave him soft stools }, then Blue Buffalo. After a while, he started licking his paws and armpit vigorously, and I thought he might have had allergies.
After a lot of testing, we realized that our dog has a favor for the red meat-based foods such as lamb and beef. He appears to be quite picky- with Blue Wilderness we got him a salmon and soon figured out that he detests fish foods, got Innova Lamb and Beef which he loved but it was too pricey, and then Merrick Grain Free Buffalo, which he ate but not consistently, often going off of his food.
Allergies never stopped during this period until, who would've known? We stopped putting Frontline because it wasn't working at all against the fleas, and changed to a flea collar. Within two days all of his allergy symptoms had disappeared.

Now he's eating his food every day, and finishes it as well. So he definitely likes this one, and my parents are quite stubborn now about switching to any other foods. I will suggest Solid Gold when it's time to order another bag.

The thing that concerns me about Solid Gold is that our dog absolutely hates fish, and all of their foods have some sort of fish in them.I know it's healthy, but he won't eat fish-based dog foods { we tried the Wilderness Salmon, as stated above, and tested with a few tiny sample bags of white fish dog food }.

Well, even though all of Solid Gold has some sort of fish material, most of them aren't really fish based. Solid Gold Lamb & Solid Gold Beef are, well, beef & lamb based, & only have the fish meal in their ingredients, listed just a bit later on, so it's not like it's entirely made up of fish.
I don't think he would be able to pick up the fish when eating it, unlike the Salmon & White Fish dog food, which is, well, fish based.

Does that make sense? x3

Blue Wilderness could work. I've heard incredibly good things about their line on my doberman forum and I've been using packets of it to entice Skoll via treats. If he's already eating Blue then your parents shouldn't fuss too much about the change, since it is the same company :]

Innova and their grain-free line EVO is VERY expensive X_X I'm pretty lucky to find it on sale whereever I can so I cackle and grab it before the price goes back up. I feed both my cat and my dog their products so let's just say that I'm kinda bummed the snake is easier to feed than my larger carnivores!

Wooooo Lonin has a kitty and just persuaded our mum that letting Lonin (be in charge of) buy(ing) the food is cheaper and better for her. c:
So now Jack is fed Smilla, Bozita and Animonda Carny (so far) instead of Felix and Whiskas. 8D Jack will just eat anything, so it was really easy switching her over. Her fur is so soft now. <3
No chance of giving her raw though. XD
You cannot eat love, nor buy a horse with it, nor warm your halls on a cold night

Question..... Possibly a really dumb question but I'm asking anyway.

We get raw, frozen soup bones from a beef farmer/ dog lover friend. Murray loves these things. I make him eat them outside because they are messy. He takes about two days to get all the meaty bits off wich I'm not concerned about at the moment because it's cold out. My question is, will this be okay in the summer or should I be worried about the meat spoiling when it's warm out? I'm thinking he will get them cleaned off faster in the warm weather but if he doesn't do I need to worry about the meat spoiling and making him sick?

Does anyone know what would be best for a female boxer, maybe about one or two years old, who is needing to fatten back up since she was having problems with worms a while? I left my female boxer, Roxie, over at my fiance's parent's house and I worry for her even though they say she is looking fine, I fear they lie either way, I just want to see my baby fat and healthy again.. Any suggestions...? D:
