@Peachfuzz aw I'm very sorry to hear your loss it's awful, I recently lost my mouse, Sir Duncan John Doughnut to old age and my hamster to an unknown cause.

But yesterday I was able to get my guinea pigs, Panzar and Sherman, sadly they're cage is way too small and I Need to get a bigger one ASAP

PeachFuzz wrote:I'm devastated. I came home yesterday to find two out of four of my mice had passed. Little Pumpkin and Cocoa were laying in the middle of the cage, no signs of attack or anything. Popcorn was near by, still alive but barely moving and breathing very slowly. I got her to nibble at a walnut and drink water from a syringe and I cuddled her close for two hours until she passed :c I'm so confused.. I only had Pumpkin and Popcorn for 5 months and Cocoa for 3 and now they're gone. Poppy seems totally fine, probably because she's in a separate tank (I moved her due to aggression issues). What happened?? The day before they were running around, eating and playing. I can't believe it.

Did anything change? (food, source of water, bedding, etc) Were they adults when you got them? Did you handle them but not Poppy?

It should work well for a group of pet mice (maybe up to 4-5 females), or exotic mice if you prefer (like African pygmy mice or striped grass mice) or maybe a syrian or dwarf hamster, as long as the ventilation is good enough. Poor air quality can cause respiratory problems.

with my experience, a same sex mice pair would work best. My mice were in 1 x 2, 2 levels and still needed more space. there was two of them,

Today I gave the rats kale - Yogi loved it whereas Satan thought it was bedding material!

Satan abscess was flushed out but a scan formed over it and a huge lump is there with the scab on top. It's so big now he can't open his eye properly. He's been on Baytril and I have to take him back to get more so I'll find out more then but does anyone know what could have happened? It's rock hard.

--does anyone know where I can discuss African Pygmy Hedgehogs or is there anyone here who I can message?

Okay, mice are what I was hoping you guys would say.

As for ventilation. There are two decent vents on the side. But would removing the front glass and replacing it with some kind of mesh or bars be better? It's a self made viv anyway so would be easy!

No updates lately, other than Orion's 2nd birthday is coming up and Hercules is a chunky monkey!

I took these photos ages ago; both of them are a pain to get good photos of!
    Please snip if quoting!

It would certainly help with the ventilaton, as well as provide more climbing opportunities for the mice so that's a good idea, if you can find a narrow enough mesh :)

Okay my guinea pigs, Panzer and Herman have a really tiny cage that should only be housing a single piggy, what size should I upgrade to once I get money?
