Eep I'm ordering a new cage tonight... should get it by Friday =3
I'm also going to contact my local shelter tomorrow about a single male agouti rat named Scabbers that they have. He looks like a big chunky boy lol I'd really love to rescue him if I can. He's been at the shelter for several months now as a single male... I'd much rather rescue him then go to any pet shops <3
I'm hoping I'd be able to introduce him to my current boys... if that's at all possible. I know it's possible and generally easy to introduce young rats to an existing group of adults, but is it usually okay to introduce an adult to an existing group of youngsters? I plan on taking it all very slowly, over the course of several weeks (or even months). If not then I suppose that means I'll have to look into finding Scabbers a little brother or two at some point.

I have four boys; two young and two older. They are currently not in a cage together because of them fighting. I tried introducing the two older guys to my 5 month old guys and it did not go well.
I'm not saying your introductions will go horribly, but keep in mind that males are indeed harder to introduce to new ones than females.
I wish you luck!

I cleaned out both of the cages and everything in it but its already smelling bad again. Help??
Cleaning with vinegar helps with the amonia smell from the urine

Really? I've always heard that males were easier to introduce to females 0_0
I'm guessing it does also indeed depend on the individual rats though and how they'd react. My four boys are all very lovely so I have my fingers crossed that they'll be good and will co-operate.

Oh yes it does depend on the rats. Just from my experience, my females were angels when it came to introducing them. My males not so much. D: Poor guys just don't want to cooperate and be friendly.

Males are easier in my opinion. Sure they scuffle till they figure out who is the boss and then thats it. The females tend to go at it for longer.
Take for granted for me, its usually younger boys being added to the cage with older males, that they are related to.

speaking of, this is going kinda weird with my boys? seems to me there's been no squabbles between them (rhys has a tiny scratch on his nose but that could have been him) but they won't interact it seems? they're always on opposite ends of the cages...
i mean at least there isn't any fighting, i'm kinda hoping they'll work it out on their own and get friendlier towards each other? i'm going to try sticking them together in neutral territory more, seeing if that helps, but for now i'm just going to be happy that they're being civil
and my girls always got on really well, i don't remember having problems with introducing them ever, but i always had very friendly and gentle girlies so it may have just been my luck

Toki-Doki is doing fine. She has been eating and drinking water, she makes a nest in her bedding. She enjoys running in her wheel when i'm trying to sleep.

What's going on with the wheel? Most of the time noisy wheels are easily quieted if you can identify the problem. Is it bumping against something in the cage? Or maybe a screw is loose or it just needs to be oiled.
