Registered Name: n/a
Barn Name: Jack
Gender: Gelding
Breed: Appaloosa
Color: Bay blanket + snowflake
Height: 14 hands
Age: 11 years
Markings: His face is mottled, but he has a stripe. He has tri-colored spots, so his normal bay, white, and a darker brown
Discipline: I ride him western, but he'd probably do anything i asked him to :)
Background: Bought from a lady who just had him sitting in the field. Her daughter shows horses very well, but he was left out in the field for two years. He never had his halter taken off because apparently, he always ran away from everyone. He had sores all over hhis face and was severely sunburned, due to his pink skin on his muzzle and eyes. When I took him in, he followed me around and would wait by the fence for me to come out. I've had no issue catching him whatsoever. His feet were also very cracked. Two years later, his coat has improved very much, I'm fighting the sunburn and his sores are on the verge of healing. :)
Do you own/half-lease/lease, etc. this horse?: Own

Thanks for all the support guys :) You all made me feel much better.

Just part of the problem is that most of the kids that are getting horses/leasing, I don't really have a reason not to like them. Other then the one really snotty little girl that is the sister of the guy my age, they are all really nice! They don't mind asking for help, they really love the horses they part lease now (they do the once a week thing like me) and they've been riding for a few years, so it isn't a phase. It's still just like grrrr though, cause I don't think they'll fully appreciate a horse until they do some of the work themselves. So they are kind of spoiled, the way their parents are paying for everything and- k there's something rotting in the flowers beside me, and it's really distracting- they just seem so young to have such fancy show horses. If it was like a pony they had at home that they cleaned the stalls everyday and fed them, that would be AWESOME for them. But it's not.

Anyways...
On a lighter note, it's mine and Jesse's one year this week! On the 7th to be exact, I think.

@Rain- I love that song so much! I bought it a while ago and put it on repeat for days xD And I think my parents don't fully understand because neither of them ever really rode. My dad rode at my great-aunts stable when he was a kid, but he never really liked it because they would go on the weekend and spend all day cleaning stalls and stuff. He says if it wasn't all that working all the time he probably would've enjoyed the riding more. They do understand to an extent, like when Toppy passed away and I was in tears for the rest of the day, they didn't try to push me or anything, they were completely sympathetic, and it wasn't even like I'd been riding him. I hadn't ridden him in years.
@Hano- I really like that song too!
@Dolphin- That's probably one of my favourite Taylor Swift songs, too! My friend and I have a joke about going dragon hunting in the bay near us after listening to Taylor Swift for hours xD

I don't have a theme song for me and Jesse, but if Jesse had his own theme song, it'd be incredibly stupid and hyperactive and annoying, like Spongebob Squarepants or something lol.

2. I lease/half lease a horse
5. I ride English
8. I am a dressage rider
11. I own my own grooming box
15. I own my own halter and lead rope
16. I have jumped 2 feet
21. I board 'my horse' at a barn
23. I take lessons from a certified instructor
26. I love a certain horse with all of my heart (I don't know if I can completely count this, because Jesse isn't the only horse I hold in my heart.)
27. I know how to groom a horse
28. I know how to bathe/horse down a horse
29. I know how to tack up a horse
30. I know how to handle/lead horses
39. I have been riding for eight years (I think.)
43. My horse is a crossbreed (But it's one of those crossbreeds that has a special name. International Show Horse)
45. My horse has a normal background (bought from a breeder, from a person who bought from a breeder, etc.)
46. I love my horse!

Registered Name: It's got 'Majestic' in it, but I can't tell you the full one cause if you search his name my barn comes up.
Barn Name: Jesse
Gender: gelding
Breed: Arab x Saddlebred
Color: Bay Tobiano pinto
Height: 16.2, last time he was measured. He might be 16.3 now, though.
Age: 7
Markings: stripe to a snip, four stockings. He's got a few tiny spots of white on the underside of his head.
Discipline: Dressage
Background: Bought as a 2 year old from a breeder, trained by his owner and showed/kept ever since. He is still 'in-training'
Do you own/half-lease/lease, etc. this horse?: Lease one day a week + a lesson a week

@Toppy: You're welcome <3

Yeah that's understable though. It's hard to think that some people/kids just get things handed to them without them having to prove they are responsible enough or work for it. That irks me too, actually it frustrated me a lot, since even though it may not sound like it, I have had to chip in as much as I can for everything that I have. I mean I buy stuff that aren't necessary for riding such as grooming kit, saddle pad, sprays, paid for half of my saddle, etc. Also, I have been a working student for my trainer this summer so I can get a free lesson. On top of that I do whatever my parents ask me to do around the house and get good grades in school. If I didn't do any of that I wouldn't be allowed to ride. Period. Now things like that teach you responsibility and to be grateful for what you have. I know I am extremely lucky and I tell my parents all the time how thankful I am for everything. I know you are very grateful too and chip in to pay for riding which is why you are so upset about things like that too. That is exactly why spoiled and ungrateful kids make me so darn upset. Okay end of rant.

Haha thanks! Yeah I think it is a great song for Mully and I <3 I also like the song in general too lol xD

Mulligan, you make my world go round and I can't stand to see you go.
I'm going to miss you like crazy and I love you to pieces.
You are the love of my life and will always occupy a huge portion of my heart.
I want you to know how much I love you, and our 6 months together have been the best 6 months of my life.
You have been a dream come true and I have been on cloud nine since we first met.
I will never forgot all of the amazing times we've had together.
Enjoy your new home and promise me this, that you will never forget me, as I will never forget you.

I think I was supposed to reply to something posted earlier today, but can't remember and should be going to sleep soon... Sorry... Lazynes strikes.
But I do have time to fill these out. XD

1. I own a horse
5. I ride English
10. I ride casually (do not show, not one certain event)
11. I own my own grooming box, or a bag actually
12. I own my own saddle
13. I own my own bridle
14. I own my own girth
15. I own my own halter and lead rope
16. I have jumped 2 feet, maybe not sure as the instructor never told how high the jumps were XP
21. I board my horse at a barn
23. I take lessons from a certified instructor
24. I do not take lessons, this varies between seasons and my financial situation
26. I love a certain horse with all of my heart, two actually, or three...
27. I know how to groom a horse
28. I know how to bathe/horse down a horse
29. I know how to tack up a horse
30. I know how to handle/lead horses
38. I have been riding for seven years, at least
39. I have been riding for eight years, not sure but around 7-8 years more or less regularry, been around horses for more time irregularry
42. My horse is a purebred, has to be to be an Icelandic
45. My horse has a normal background (bought from a breeder, from a person who bought from a breeder, etc.), it's pretty basic not the best though
46. I love my horse! <3 Our hoof marriage anniversary is 10.10. btw as that is the date when she fully became mine.

Registered Name: Jarlhetta frá Skidbakka 3
Barn Name: Heta
Gender: mare
Breed: Icelandic horse
Color: Flaxen chestnut
Height: 12.3-13.1hh-ish I think
Age: 17
Markings: Blaze
Discipline: English, gaited riding and trails
Background: Nothing too drastic, but still bit sad. She came from Iceland in late December 2008 to be a lesson/trail horse at a stable I went to camp every summer. Which is where I first met her in July 2009. She was my camp horse, which we groomed every evening and gave some special treatment. I got to ride her twice during the week and even though her tolt was a piggy pace mess, there was just something about her. I even rode her in our camp end show, and got really good evaluation too as they were judging our riding instead the horse's gaits. However things took turn for the worse in early 2010, the stable went bankruptcy. All horses were sold in kinda of open auction. One stable was offered the ones the didn't sell that day. They bought them amoung few horses they actually wanted, later I heard Heta was one of these wanted horses. I was really upset about the whole thing as the place ment lot to me. But my on-job-learning period was on the upcoming summer so I managed to get myself as an intern to the stable that got the horses. They already had sold one other mare that I liked a lot, who was the first Icelandic I ever rode. :( But Heta was still there and I was really happy to see her, I think she was too. In the camp I used to feed her lot's of dry bread, with permission, so I think she kinda remembered me when I gave her a piece there. She's very food oriented little piggy. XD Anyway I spent 4 months at the stable working and managed to convince the stable owner to sell Heta to me and then my parents to buy her. The owner had actually planned on putting her up for sale that fall, or breed her, as she was little too small to work on their trails with heavy adults and with little kids her tolt would never improve, and she was kinda strong out on the trails sometimes. I just kinda bought her before that. So it was happily ever after, I got my little pony. :D
Though she was barely anything my ideal horse would have been, and now she developed a sweet itch and her tolt is still pretty much piggy pace, I still wouldn't give her away.
To add: she has had really bad history with saddles during short time, one muscle injury that added up the saddle hate(especially the girth), really sore and tight shoulders, mild laminitis at some point that went unnoticed, suspected spavin(not sure), loss of paddock buddy(they got real close to each other).
Do you own/half-lease/lease, etc. this horse?: Own
Picture Link: Picture, I'll spare you of the flood as my photobucket decided to be all weird
-------

@Toppy: We have one kid kinda like those at our stable. She's 12-13 years old I think. Originally her mother had a older gelding. Then the daughter got into riding and now recently started to think she wanted to start showing. Now that gelding is extremely lazy and not much of a mover. So they start thinking about getting second horse for the girl. Now they come across this amazing 6 year old, who my instructor loves as well... They end up getting him (with some pressuring from my instructor imo), though I must admit they got him with very good price considering his potential. The problem is neither of these people had the skills then to ride him... So my instructor ended up riding him most of the spring and summer, even showed him. Now they are both riding him a little bit as he has calmed down also. But the mother is bit too timid to ride him other than some trails or on a lesson, and I think my instructor doesn't want the girl to ride him outside lessons, which I kinda agree with. Now this is not so huge issue, but the girl sometimes seems just so uninterested on taking care of the horses or just staying over at the stable. I see her once or twice a week, once on a lesson and second time maybe on weeked. I'm worried that she will loose interest in the horses at somepoint and then the horse they got specially for her will go to waste, and he's waaaaaaayyyyy too nice to just stand around in a paddock plus he has really sweet personality too. That has already happened with two girls around my age...
Gosh sorry I ranted so much... >_<'
Congrats on your hoof marriage anniversary, I say that now or I will forget it later. XD Mine and Heta's is in next month.
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

@Dolphin:
I think I did the same thing - I read about your lesson and forgot to post! Sorry!

That's a great song, by the way. C:

@Toppy:
I know this is late, but... I totally feel for you. I know how hard it is to see the spoiled kids get everything they want when you work your hardest for the littlest things... You and Jesse are a great team, and it's awesome that you pay for so much.

I'm a working student at my barn. Over the summer, I worked about 8 hours a week, and now that I'm in school, I work about 4.5 hours a week, in order to pay off my third weekly lesson. If I was old enough for a real job, I would take one. I'm very lucky that my parents pay for my other 2 lessons a week and my summer lease, and I show them that I'm thankful as much as I can. <3 I've been saving my money for YEARS so that I can get a horse, although I'm planning on using some of that money to lease Kat over the school year. And I buy my riding stuff. I paid for half of both of my saddles, bought my saddle pads, treats, etc. Some things I get for holidays, which I'm very thankful for again. But a lot of my riding things/riding time comes from ME.
I work my butt off for what I get, and I'm incredibly thankful that I have as many opportunities as I do. I dont get my riding handed to me, I work for it, and honestly, I'm proud of that, because it makes my accomplishments feel like so much more because nothing was handed to me.
There is a girl at my barn who sounds a bit like the girls you're talking about, except that she's a year older than me. I'll call her E. E is essentially a nice person, but she can be a spoiled rich brat when the mood strikes her. Which is a lot. She's been riding for about 7 years, yet I ride at the same level as her after 4 years. She just doesn't seem to care about riding or horses all that much. She doesn't work hard to improve. She doesn't do ANYTHING. She's never had to work an hour in her life because of daddy's money, and she lets you know of that every day. She got her $30,000 warmblood, her brand new Antares, and her custom trunk without seeming thankful at all. Never had to lift a finger for anything. And it frustrates me.

I'm really not making sense, my apologies xD

Postby Sadie~Bronson~252 » Tue Sep 04, 2012 8:06 am

I think bratty little kids are part of the reason that I don't like to ride as much any more. I spent so long doing the work that they should have been doing that it took away any fun that I could have had with Henry, Merlin, and Oscar. I didn't get to spend any time with them on the ground because I had to get all of the horses in and then get them ready while trying to keep them from doing something stupid and getting hurt or to keep them at least out there Brushing. (The majority of the kids would end up in the house interested in something else, but as soon as I got permission to go out with out them, they all suddenly would want to come along). On the trail I didn't get to have fun either- all the kids cared about was running, and they'd hold back to run up behind me, or even sneak off on a separate trail if it was fall and the leaves were loud enough. Henry would get really nervous if they did that and start spooking all over the place, and Merlin would just jet ticked and start bolting off. It was all I could do to keep from just leaving them out there on their own and hope one of them would fall off and finally get the idea that they could be doing that.
But of course they wouldn't get the idea- they'd just argue with me, get mad when I wouldn't let them gallop the whole trail, and then tell on me so I got yelled at. If I told them to saddle their own horse, I would get yelled at because I don't even know why. So I hate kids now. Pretty much all of them. They took the fun out of my riding. They took my favorite horses and ruined them. They got me in trouble because they were LAZY. And now they all have their own horses. It makes me sick. They do nothing, I did everything. They got everything, and I lost everything. I mean, Bronson was the final straw, but it was the girls there that really did it. They were part of the family there- so much so that they got to be around all the time, got to do the fun things and just hang out instead of being worked to death. They could just ride and have fun, and they didn't even care about me. Not ONCE did I get a thank you from them, after I'd got their horses ready for them countless times.

This new place is nice, no kids running around, and everyone is treated as equals- there were two kids there the first day I was there, and they took out the nicest pony on the farm. After ten minutes they got bored and just let him go. He ran back to the gate and instead of me getting yelled at (like I would at the old place) and them getting to play with the pony some more, instead THEY got yelled at and the pony was put out. It's almost pathetic, how happy that made me. No favorites. Just honest punishment. It won't fix things though. Not for me.I need to find Bronson to do that.

@tiny: i wish their was a cover at my stables too, it would make the floor less muddy and i wouldnt have to ride in the rain. XD

@Sadie: Oh wowi hate when small kids are at the barn as well, i dont think you should ave been yelled at all. When you told them to saddle, that was a good thing since they can learn how to saddle their own horses and not be depending on someone else (aslo give them something else to do but run averywhere). Its good you left though, less stress!^^ That new place seems nice though, no yelling from kids or people getting mad at you for something you didnt do! XD
