Background: Nothing too drastic, but still bit sad. She came from Iceland in late December 2008 to be a lesson/trail horse at a stable I went to camp every summer. Which is where I first met her in July 2009. She was my camp horse, which we groomed every evening and gave some special treatment. I got to ride her twice during the week and even though her tolt was a piggy pace mess, there was just something about her. I even rode her in our camp end show, and got really good evaluation too as they were judging our riding instead the horse's gaits. However things took turn for the worse in early 2010, the stable went bankruptcy. All horses were sold in kinda of open auction. One stable was offered the ones the didn't sell that day. They bought them amoung few horses they actually wanted, later I heard Heta was one of these wanted horses. I was really upset about the whole thing as the place ment lot to me. But my on-job-learning period was on the upcoming summer so I managed to get myself as an intern to the stable that got the horses. They already had sold one other mare that I liked a lot, who was the first Icelandic I ever rode.

But Heta was still there and I was really happy to see her, I think she was too. In the camp I used to feed her lot's of dry bread, with permission, so I think she kinda remembered me when I gave her a piece there. She's very food oriented little piggy. XD Anyway I spent 4 months at the stable working and managed to convince the stable owner to sell Heta to me and then my parents to buy her. The owner had actually planned on putting her up for sale that fall, or breed her, as she was little too small to work on their trails with heavy adults and with little kids her tolt would never improve, and she was kinda strong out on the trails sometimes. I just kinda bought her before that. So it was happily ever after, I got my little pony.

Though she was barely anything my ideal horse would have been, and now she developed a sweet itch and her tolt is still pretty much piggy pace, I still wouldn't give her away.
To add: she has had really bad history with saddles during short time, one muscle injury that added up the saddle hate(especially the girth), really sore and tight shoulders, mild laminitis at some point that went unnoticed, suspected spavin(not sure), loss of paddock buddy(they got real close to each other).
Do you own/half-lease/lease, etc. this horse?: Own

@Toppy: We have one kid kinda like those at our stable. She's 12-13 years old I think. Originally her mother had a older gelding. Then the daughter got into riding and now recently started to think she wanted to start showing. Now that gelding is extremely lazy and not much of a mover. So they start thinking about getting second horse for the girl. Now they come across this amazing 6 year old, who my instructor loves as well... They end up getting him (with some pressuring from my instructor imo), though I must admit they got him with very good price considering his potential. The problem is neither of these people had the skills then to ride him... So my instructor ended up riding him most of the spring and summer, even showed him. Now they are both riding him a little bit as he has calmed down also. But the mother is bit too timid to ride him other than some trails or on a lesson, and I think my instructor doesn't want the girl to ride him outside lessons, which I kinda agree with. Now this is not so huge issue, but the girl sometimes seems just so uninterested on taking care of the horses or just staying over at the stable. I see her once or twice a week, once on a lesson and second time maybe on weeked. I'm worried that she will loose interest in the horses at somepoint and then the horse they got specially for her will go to waste, and he's waaaaaaayyyyy too nice to just stand around in a paddock plus he has really sweet personality too. That has already happened with two girls around my age...
Gosh sorry I ranted so much... >_<'
Congrats on your hoof marriage anniversary, I say that now or I will forget it later. XD Mine and Heta's is in next month.
