My question is, is grain free really better for your dog?

In one word. Yes. Grain and corn are fillers. To my knolage corn and grain have little to no health benefits. It is just for taste and calories. Grain and corn are also big allergie triggers, so many people try to keep It out of their dog's food. As for my dog, she was itching really bad so I took her off grain and corn and the itching almost completely cleared up! without the fillers your food has more quality ingerdiance. So, like I said, in my option grain free is the way to be xD (lol wow that was really corny :?)

I feed my cat with Royal canine and Eukanuba(rarely) which are the ones with highest quality in my region. Is this okay for her health?

Royal Canin is as bad as Science Diet. I know Eukanuba used to be considered a fantastic food (a decade or so ago), but recently people have been reporting they've fallen in quality and there's much better foods on the market. I don't know what your region is, but if you're in the US there are a variety of better dog foods you could order online :] They do require you to spend more money though.

Also little update on Skoll's switch. It's too early to tell if we're out of shakey water, but we had good solid poop this morning for the first time since he switched. Looks like no tummy upset from his knuckle either.

I'm from Bulgaria actually. I'll search for cat food with better quality and I hope I'll find something.

Yeeah :c Sadly I only know of stuff in the US and a little bit of Canada's foods. Hopefully someone who knows more about the dog foods of the world will be able to help.

A good rule of thumb is to make sure the ingredients are real meat (not by-product meal), no grains or corn, and high protien for cats. Also you're going to want to make sure there's taurine in the food as that's something they need, but something not every manufactorer adds.

My cat eats Purina One, and sometimes Whiskas. I guess Purina stuff is not good for her? She's really fat, eats a lot. I love my cat, so I want her to be healthy. I live in the Netherlands, so I don't recognize most of the food you have in the US.

Well, one of her owners just bought a small bag of Taste of the Wild. :D They're going to 'see how she does on it' before deciding to make the switch permanent. But I'm confident she'll do good. I'm just so happy xD

And considering the mess she made, I'd say Clemmy likes it too (She's trying to pick the TotW out of the Beneful)

Sorry the pic is so big.

HURRAAYY! Hopefully it'll agree with her.. <3 Poops should be smaller within a couple of days. Gas should hopefully go down as well. Coat can take up to 3 months for a major difference, but should be noticeable before the bag runs out. =)

I hope so. The thing is the owners say they tried switching her to Iams and Eukanuba (apparently, those are 'good' foods  ) and they made Clemmy even gassier.

Quick q though: Whatever Clemmy eats, my mom's dog, Loli, is fed (though both dogs also frequently get table scraps, Loli more so then Clemmy). But, due to her aging, she's been getting a super sensitive tummy. Something we think is very mild can give her the runs. I want to start trying to get her used to TotW too but she is also a picky eater and will pick out what she likes best then starve herself waiting for more. Even worse then what Clemmy does. How should I go about introducing this new stuff to her? For reference, she just turned 12 years old and is near blind (we're honestly not sure how much sight she has left though we know she can at least see movement). I'm also worried this will upset her tummy, as she's only ever been on very poor quality foods.

EDIT: And I'm extremely psyched cause I found Wellness CORE at the feed store when I went with Clemmy's owner. I didn't see if they had any cat stuff but I'm hoping they did. That's what I eventually want to switch my cat to.

Take it slow. Buy a tester bag (or find free samples  ) and switch her slowly. Introduce a couple pieces at first, just maybe 5-10 pieces of the new stuff. See if she eats it. If she does, you can start putting 25% of her new food in with her old stuff and see how her stomach handles it.

What I did with Skoll was first I offered him a few pieces of the EVO as treats (helps that food is The Best Thing Ever). He eats 2 cups of food per meal, 2 meals a day. First meal was 1/4th cup EVO, the rest Science Diet. Waited a day, no runny poop, good. 1/2 cup EVO next day. No runny poop? Good, stick with 1/2 cup for another two days to see if his stomach freaks. Nothing? Good, 1 cup EVO next day. Repeat. 1 1/2 cup EVO. Repeat. And finally he's been on 100% EVO (plus a little rice and pumpkin just in case) for a few days since he had a small bout of runny poo. 100% solid poop today!

I GOT HER OTHER OWNER TO AGREE TO THE SWITCH! :'D He's one of those guys that likes to save a penny any way he can but I convinced him this food was better for them, we'd actually end up buying less because it has less fillers and both dogs like it! We gave Loli some in bowl with Beneful and she's trying to pick out the pieces xD (I only put in maybe 5 pieces because of her size). So yay! But, he's limited me to a month to make the switch. So let's hope their digestive tracts are cooperative.

Huzzah, thats awesome to hear! Can;t wait to see before and after pictures! :'D

A month should be PLENTY of time.

Poor Juniper got switched to Pure Beyond from Walmart and today was her second day of just that food pure.. and she had yellow mushy poo in my bf's car seat.. >_>; We picked up better food with the quickness. Made me laugh because she's a freaking 9ish week old puppy and not even rice agree'd with her.. :?
