we had a bit of a scare with her recently. she decided to swallow a big sock on father’s day. we rushed her to the emergency vet clinic right away, and they were able to induce vomiting and get the sock out very quickly. thankful that it was quickly resolved, but it was not how i envisioned father’s day going. we had to cancel plans to visit family because of this goofy mcgoofus.
Glad she's okay. You're lucky you knew she ate it and were able to get her in right away. She's a beautiful dog. Didn't expect the Shetland sheepdog in there. Don't you wish they could tell use stories of their family history.

In general since this site is geared at kids, I’d suggest not trying to approach a loose dog. It’s always great to help a loose dog, but there is always danger the dog could be aggressive.
I havent posted in awhile, but my crew are doing awesome! Bones is off at a board and train right now learning lots of things. Kes is doing her Kes thing as always. O is in heat so shes being boring waiting for that to end lol. Zona is missing her Malinois terribly but did start agility classes a few weeks ago which has been fun. Definitely a lot different to teach a dane agility vs my herders 😂
I’ve also got my boyfriends foster Doberman for some training right now which has been super fun. I like him a lot, just wish he didn’t have SSA so we could keep him 😭
But it’s looking like we will be adding a Norwegian Buhund for my boyfriend’s first real sport dog so I’m super excited. I adore rare breeds, so I’m excited to get to have one and help my boyfriend get him into sports and things!
A few pics of the dorks.

Awww I love dober dogs.

So I don't know if I hit a mile stone or an anomaly today. Gizmo has claws like eagle talons, they grow quickly, and they're bloody sharp. Gizmo also HATES to have his claws clipped. Just opening the drawer with clippers in them often sends him running into the next room, and hiding in the best way a 70+ lbs dog can. (For the record, I have tried to touch his feet to acclimate him to clipping since he was young. Nothing ever worked. He has never had a bad experience with the clippers either, he just hates them.) I've tried all the tricks peanut butter, dog tv for distraction etc. nothing.
Then today, I was just sitting by him, starting picking up his feet, because he desperately needed his claws done . . . and he let me do it with no problem. I then went to get the clippers, and he got a bit nervous, but didn't b-line it to the other room. I calmed him down, and he let me clip his claws with no problems, apropos of nothing. He only tried to get away once, and with a little freeze dried chicken, he came back easily.
I don't know that it will ever happen again. But dang. For all the struggles we have been through in the past, to just have him sit there ... was something else.

So normally we only take in greyhounds, but this little guy's owner just died. Biko (pronounced Bee-co) is a tiny, 40 pound Galgo. I never thought I'd meet one of these guys! He's a very talkative, sweet, energetic two year old boy. We weren't supposed to get any more fosters until August but we had to take him in. He came with another greyhound, but he hadn't been cat tested so he had to go to another foster. Since he was a pet before he came to us and not straight from a track he has been one of the easiest foster ever. I was actually out of town when we picked him up, so I only just met him yesterday, and he's at his first ever vet appointment right now.

and this is him, standing next to David, who is owned by the president of our group. David is a 90 pound beast, for size comparison.

narrowly missed the list: Tervuren Belgian Shepherd, Viszla, Airedale Terrier.

Which dobe breeder are you looking into?

Dobes are great dogs!
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

I would definitely recommend an aussie if you are active with lots of time and want a silly dog to make you laugh all day everyday! My aussie is now 1 1/2 years old and she is the light of my life! I own a dog daycare and aussies are one of my favorite breeds c:
Congrats on your future pup! ~Blue_Aussie

It has been a long time since I've posted anything in Dog Owner Chat, but I'm trying to become active on CS again and I will happily take any chance to talk about my dogs. So here I am. I see some familiar faces as well as many new-to-me ones :)

Beaker (greyhound) is still going strong! Going greyer and greyer by the day though. He'll be 9 this September. His anxiety has gotten so much better over the years and I've finally found a diet that really, truly seems to work for him. Aside from regular greyhound-type accidents such as RIPPING OFF A DEWCLAW AT 2AM, he isn't such problem-child anymore.
May (blue merle smooth collie) had her 2nd and final litter in April. She also had 2 very expensive root canals this year... Please insure your pets if you haven't already and don't want to go broke. We achieved her Grand Championship in January of 2019 and she's now mostly retired from showing, save for appearances at CCA Nationals or the Veterans class at specialty shows once she's old enough. We've tried to get into performance events but she really isn't very interested, so our focus will finally be able to go 100% to her service work. Not that there's much public access to do for now, but there's always other training to be done.
Thora (tricolor smooth collie) is my newest addition since I "disappeared". She is May's daughter from her first litter. She'll be 3 in September. My friends and I (quite seriously) call her the "malincollie" haha. She is the driviest collie you'll meet. She is really a dream come true to move forward with as a breeder and exhibitor. We've trained in barn hunt and she ADORES it. Once the world is more back to normal, I do have plans to get into other sports with her, tracking and herding being on our shortlist. She is halfway to her AKC Championship.

I LOVE smooth collies. I feel we don't see nearly enough of them. Rough collies are cool and all, but smooth collies are just beautiful. If I ever get a decent plot of land, Smooth collies are definitely on my short list of breeds I want.

Smooth fox terriers are with out question, my favorite small terrier breed, and one of the few small breeds I would ever consider owning myself. They're very unique looking, and I love it. Wire haired variety (and wire-haired dogs in general) are not my aesthetic, but the smooth fox, with it's V shaped fittingly fox like head, are dogs I am very fond of. I'd be interested to know which breeders you are contacting for them.. I won't be getting one anytime soon - but I've looked into breeders for them, as a possible future addition. I found a good one in MO, but I'd love to see others, some one has actually talked to.
And Borzoi are a dream as well. One I'll likely never own myself - but I would love to see pictures if that is what you decide on.
