That seems like a great idea as well.

I think I know why my vets so knowledgable she has pets of her own. So that's probably why most likely had to look at foods and ingredients for her own animals.

My dog's name is Ruby, she's a mutt and I love her like crazy but she's driving me insane! Ruby is the most stubborn dog you will come across and that's begun to be a problem. I've had her for four years now and she's about six or seven, and despises walks. She will not respond to small tugs like another dog might. She would gladly let you drag her down the street than have to take a step that she does not want to take. The problem has been getting worse in the past year and now-a-days she's begun to growl at me when i try to take her out for a walk. When I finally get her out from whatever she's crawled behind to avoid the dreaded walk, the actual carrying out of said activity is usually more painful. The second that she.. does what she needs to do she refuses anything more than a single step away from the house. I've tried to walk towards our home and then continue past it, sorta using her momentum to keep going, but her mind is too set on home to be tricked into anything else. This wouldn't be too big of a problem except that she's starting to gain weight. I can't get her to go on walks to try and fix that and I'm getting concerned. She's a rather long dog so it can't be good on her back. She's not food motivated in the least so that's a dead end if you're thinking of that, I'm afraid. Any suggestions or suggestions of places I could go to ask for help would be great, thank you for any possible help!

Have you ruled out medical issue's as a course of discomfort for her. Before trying anything I would look at a vet first to rule that out.

I think that's the worst part- they DID get a trainer. That trainer suggested a shock collar; it's antagonized the issue SO BADLY. She never LIKED my dog, but that collar upped the aggression from apparent territorial issues to her actively charging the front door in an attempt to break out and kill my dog any time she saw us. I DID suggest a reputable trainer and my suggestion was blatantly ignored- probably because the training to correct this sort of issue was pricey, but it's been 4 years and this could have ended 3 years ago if they were any kind of responsible.

I HOPED the issue would be put to rest when my first dog (where the issue started) crossed the rainbow bridge two years ago. I am now on my second dog with this issue remaining. I mean, she's not ramming the door anymore, but if they leave it open the slightest crack- either while grabbing their car keys or chatting with a neighbor or something dumb and mundane- she WILL bull rush past her owner and attack my dog.

I second a vet visit- it sounds like Ruby is around an age where arthritis could start to be a concern, especially if she has an unusual conformation + you don't have history on her growth/development period. Unless this was set off by some emotionally traumatic experience (which you would likely also remember), physical pain is the only thing I can think of that would cause such an extreme reaction-arthritis would also explain the gradual worsening behavior as it progresses. Your vet should be able to do a physical exam/x-rays to see if that's the issue.

During one of her annual check ups we asked about any joint discomfort but the vet said that they wouldn't try to diagnose the issue until Ruby had lost about four-five pounds. Her guess is it could just be that she's getting a little over weight and that could be the problem itself. So now at this point it's become a looping weight problem

if she's gaining weight her harness could be getting too small for her. it would also be painful or just plain uncomfortable when you tug her so that could be a reason she doesn't respond to a small yank.

Yeah you should certainly inform him they are poisonous and call the vet immediately. If he refuses to acknowledge it you can actually call the police at your local non-emergency number or your local veterinarian.

Thanks for the advice!
He always means well, and I'll ask him how many the dog ate. I hope poor Thelma will be okay, she's so sweet
