You know what would be awesome?
If someone bought like, a bunch of bettas from Walmart and then got ten 5 gallons..betta room!
Also, I have a question. Is there any way to keep two female bettas together? Not doing it, just curious. Like, if you put two female bettas in a 100 gallon tank, would they deliberately seek out each other and fight? Or if you have enough, like 5 in a huge tank, would they stop fighting?
You cannot keep two female bettas together, they would pick on each other and kill each other, they should be housed in groups of 5 or more.
I have personally kept 7 bettas in a 30 gallon without dividers and got amazing results.
I bought 6 females and one male, and set them free. at first I was worried that I would have to separate them, but that changed when they started schooling like barbs or tetras. the male was extremely protective of his harem and would flare up at me when I came up to feed them, and the females hid behind him.
the epicness ended when they caught some weird disease that spread like wildfire. only one female and the male were left. the male ended up going over to the little pit they slept in at night and would not leave. he turned pale and did not come up to eat. he died a few days later, curled up in that little pit. there was no signs of disease or anything.
the remaining female lived for two more years and was housed with another female and a male when she died of natural causes.
so yes, bettas CAN be kept together, and the can get along very well under proper circumstances.
