It was raining pretty hard today so I left Sammi inside as I haven't set up a tarp for him outside yet, and for an hour and a half he was alone inside. It was his first time being alone inside, and as he's still young and he does have chewing habits, I was a little skeptical about it even though he had toys out. But I came home and nothing was damaged! I am so proud of him and hopefully we can leave him inside more often ^U^

We happened to stop by the shelter in between errands today to donate some stuff and my brother spots a dog he falls in love with. This is a one and a half year old female collie/keeshond mix named Moya. I'm not gonna lie, she is very cute and all cuddles and playtime but she's got a lot of problems.
The first, and most obvious, she is missing her left front leg. Police brought her to the shelter when she was hit by a car and she has not been claimed. She did have a collar and tags, which were illegible and so old and worn. They couldn't find anyone in the area who knows where she came from. She also has heart problems and is on medication for a probable bite wound on the side of her neck. Plus, she's on a ton of other meds for all sorts of other stuff and allergies which they say are very bad.
Could someone give me advice? My dad is sorta iffy on this but my mom is starting to convince him. Has anyone here ever owned a collie/keesond mix? What should we prepare for if we do get her?
I have quit. Goodbye.

Try training him out of his chewing habits rather than making him go outside.

Remind your parents that due to her allergies, she will need
constant and expensive medication her whole life. The heart problem
could also mean a shorter life span. Not only will the medicine be
costly throughout her whole life, but she'll most likely need an
expensive food brand for her allergies and you might have to try multiple
brands before finding one she can eat. That mix will also have lots of
shedding.
She could also become fearful of cars due to the accident. Both breeds
are also prone to barking and she could turn out to be super high drive
with tons of energy or a more laidback dog once she's out of the shelter.

// just adding on from above. my dog has epilepsy and had no life insurance prior to his first fits. his meds are costly but we would never give him up or reject him for it. the dog sounds lovely and i feel as though she will be put down. not only disabled, but parted from owner and has medical problems. she should be given the best life ever and it is unfortunate if you reject her for problems she never chose to have.
