I've never been a fan of Sharks, even when I was a kid I was terrified...

Sign me up, this is gory and cruel. There not smart enough (sorry if I insult anyone) to realize shark fins don't make anything better, they make the world worse. NO MORE SHARK HUNTING OR FINNING!!!!!!

Has anybody here heard of Alice Newstead? She's this English artist who's done some pretty gruesome stuff to herself is public to help raise awareness for sharks. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2675452 ... tment.html That's pretty intense and shows real dedication. I have to say I really admire the way she took a stand.
I don't mean all rush out and hang yourself from hooks, but I think instead of all of us sitting here and thinking about all the horrible things that happen to sharks, we can go do little things to help them. (:

And I little fact I'd like to throw out here is that shark "attacks" count as anything from scratching your arm on a shark's rough skin to death. Death is rare. The majority of the "attacks" are just humans petting the shark and scratching their hands, and the actual shark attacks are usually provoked. Unless of course, they're trying to find food, and mistake you for food. And then they let go.
And may I also say that while I was scuba diving in the Caribbean (sp?), a tiger shark swam right under us. Most people swam away from the shark. I swam towards it. I was splashing around cuz I was tired and very close to the shark. It didn't care. Not at all. I'm more afraid of high school than I am of sharks xD

I've known about this before. I think it's just unbelievable -- an animal dying slowly and painfully for the sake of a bowl of soup. Plain evil.
