I took a ton of pics of Stitch and Dixie. <3 I'm going to post Stitch and one or two of Dixie here, then the rest in Dixie's thread so I don't dump everything on you all, all at once. :'D

I think it is so funny how whenever you see someone else with the same breed as you, you automatically like that person. Anyway, one of THE BEST sayings I have ever heard is "Boxers are like potato chips, you can't just have one." Which is SOOO true. Once I move out and get my own place I plan on finding a boxer rescue near by and getting a play mate for Izzy.

Oh and I am getting ready to take Izzy to the vet now. I will update you all on what is going on as soon as we get back.

Oh and cardinal I have two other dogs that live with me too, it would be cool if you could add them to the list as well. And I felt like I should fill out a forum cause I haven't made one on here.

Do you own a dog?: Yes!!
Favorite dog breed?: Boxer and Siberian Husky
Tell us about your dog(s), if you have any!:Well I personally own a Boxer lab cross, Izzy. She is 3/4 boxer and 1/4 lab. So she looks basically pure bred boxer because she has all the features and personality of one, she just doesn't have the boxer color. At my house there are two other dogs, a 10 year old Shih-Tzu named Kiko and a Maltipoo named Charlie. Fun fact about Charlie... she's a girl. And yes her name is Charlie :)
Pictures of your dog(s):
You guys have already seen Izzy but here is a picture from when we first got her.

Ah yes! I've heard that saying before somewhere, I'm glad to see you're a boxer owner too!
My boxer can get feisty at times, I should record and sent a video link on here! x3
She also seems to like potatoe chips too! Lol

Izzy was vaccinated and I know she didn't pick it up from the park because I go in a group of people that I am friends with and all of their dogs are vaccinated. Do not just assume I did not vaccinate my dog... The vet said that it was going around a lot in our area. So there are multiple places that she could have caught it from. But either way she was vaccinated for Bordetella. She is updated on ALL of her shots, Rabies, everything. Just like people, vaccinations help prevent from the disease but it does not 100% guarantee that you will not get the disease or cold or whatever. I PROMISE you, I am not an irresponsible pet owner and I do everything I can for my dogs. Hence why I was confused about her cough so I took her in to make sure it wasn't serious.

This has been annoying me for some time... But she really does not look pure to me. Can I pinpoint what exactly is wrong with her that makes her look like a mix? No but if I came across her IRL, I'd automatically assume she was a mix. If you directly compare Izzy to well-bred Boxers, the difference is quite visible (at least to me).

It also annoys me quite a bit that you will often refer to Izzy as just a boxer. She's not a Boxer. She's a Boxer mix.

Agreed.

My question is, why was her tail docked if she is a mix? I would understand a docked tail if she was a BYB boxer, but since she is a mix, why was her tail docked?

I did not crop her tail, when I got her it was already like that. So I don't know why it was cropped. If it was my choice I would not have cropped her tail. I got her from a Boxer rescue and the lady said they had rescued her litter mates and the two parents but didn't tell me where from. Her and her siblings and parents all had docked tails. So, honestly I have no idea why her tail is docked. It is possible she was from a BYB but I did not get her from one.

ummmmmmm did you not read Boxer LAB CROSS. I know my dog is not pure bred Boxer. But the dad was pure bred boxer and the mother was half boxer half lab. Which makes her 3/4 Boxer and 1/4 lab. She highly resembles a Boxer and yes it is obvious that she is not pure bred, don't tell me something I already know. I honestly don't know why something so simple would annoy you so much? It is a bit dumb in my opinion if you ask me. It's not your dog and I am sorry I don't say Boxer MIX every single time I talk about my dog. It isn't necessary. It is very visible that she is a mix and you are not the only one who knows that. But since everyone on here already knows that she is a Boxer LAB MIX it was safe to assume I could just say Izzy and everyone would be cool with it. So instead of causing drama maybe you should keep it to yourself or actually read about MY dog. Like I said, Boxer LAB CROSS. Plus you can't even pin point the difference minus a few features. I am not trying to sell her off as some pure bred dog because she isn't.

Anyway, Izzy, my Boxer MIX is doing a lot better and I am sure the antibiotics will kick in soon and do some work. I asked the vet why she caught it because she had been recently vaccinated ( last month) and she was updated on all of her shots. The vet wasn't too sure why but she said just like humans, vaccinations aren't 100% preventative against things like colds and all of that. They work most of the time but it is rare when a dog catches it. Luckily I took her in right when I started noticing something was wrong so we are getting it taken care of before it goes out of control. But besides her cough she is 100% healthy, very athletic sounding heart and wonderful lungs, body shape and everything. Which is good!

@Vixen They are great dogs!!! I know mine isn't pure bred but I love her no matter what. She still has the amazing personality of a Boxer and I really love that about her. They are total goofballs... My uncle has like 4 pure bred boxers and I have always loved them. So when I was able to get Izzy, it was pretty awesome. I was excited to finally own one. I love her, even if she isn't pure bred lol. I love mutts anyway, I don't really like the idea of buying from a breeder which is why I adopt from rescues! :D

I'm not just talking about the post I was quoting but your previous posts where you've only said 'my boxer'. It's annoying because you're misrepresenting your dog and the breed in general. Everyone knows Lolita was a chihuahua dachshund mix but did I ever call her JUST a chihuahua or JUST a dachshund? No. I'd say chihuahua/chi mix or dachshund/doxie mix if I was feeling lazy. It's four extra characters. Big whoop.

If you know it's so visible that she's a mix, why do you keep saying she looks just like a purebred Boxer? Why do you keep acting as if you own a pure Boxer? I can't pinpoint the differences because it's a bunch of features and a lack of type all causing her to look extremely off. You can't always pinpoint what's wrong in a dog, particularly when it's a lot of things.

I'm SO proud of my Barnabas.
I took him into my local Lowes
{with permission from the
manager} and his 'heel' has
gotten so much better. He
never sniffed anything on the
shelves or greeted someone
without me releasing him.
He was in 'lie down' every time
I stopped to look at something,
and ahh I'm just so proud of him!

Okay, well I am sorry I irritated you so much. I will start being very specific when I talk about my dog. And actually she looks a lot like a Boxer, she has a lot of similarities of a boxer. No, she doesn't look like an AKC registered Boxer because she isn't. And I do not act like I own a pure bred Boxer, thing is she is JUST like one and I love the breed. I have been around them my whole life. I am not misrepresenting my dog at all. Anyway, you should understand it is not your place and you have no right to go around pointing out flaws in other peoples dogs. It is just not right and is actually quite rude. Some people may take it the wrong way. Saying there is " a lot of things wrong." with my dog is actually VERY wrong. NOTHING is wrong with my dog, absolutely nothing is wrong with her. She is VERY healthy, she is very happy and in my eyes she is perfect. I don't need a wonderful pure bred Boxer when I have her. But since it irritates you so much I will start saying Boxer mix. But still, I don't criticize your dogs you shouldn't go around criticizing others dogs.

The main point is she is a happy, healthy dog. The only thing you should be worried or irritated about is if I was mistreating her or something. Instead of worrying about small details in a dog such as if they are pure bred or not, try focussing on things more important. Things that you should actually be getting irritated over rather than small things like someone saying something so small. Like I don't mean to sounds rude or act like I don't care but it is really just stupid to get mad at someone like that for something so miniscule.

@Joe Kerr that is amazing!!! I am trying to work with Izzy on a good solid heel and I am having some issues with it. I have been using the method KikoPup from Youtube taught but she doesn't seem to understand. How did you train your dog?
We are trying to work with Izzy to become a therapy dog because she just has the personality for one and have been told by many people that she would be a good therapy dog, but I would like her a little bit better trained before I get her registered.

@ I Am Baymax

We found out the working stuff through hid microchip. We didn't know he was chipped, so took him to the vets to see if he was, and of course he wasn't registered to us, so they had to get in contact with who he was registered to, to make sure he was lost or stolen. The vets found out all the info for us. Apparently, his original owners (the beater who had him as a gundog) had been keeping track of him, why I don't know.
I'll give you the full story of what they told us-
-Original owners had him as a gundog, but they had to move to a bungalow and couldn't take him.
-Sent him to a training place that trains police/army/ect. dogs
-Sent him & another dog into the army. Toby was sent back, don't know why but said it wasn't his fault.
-Retraned for police, don't know anything other than that.
-Retrained as a pet dog.
-Rehomed with a builder, and was apparently kept on the builders yard.
-They then emigrated. original owners lost track.
----
The place we got him from said he'd been living with a family, with kids & 5 cats, but the owner was working long hours, so had given him up. They never mentioned anything the vets told us. We don't know if they knew or not.
And he was very underweight when we got him..

He has a protruding rib on one side, which we were told is caused by a broken rib thats healed itself.
His name has been changed at some point, before we got him. His original name was Murphy.

I've alwalys thought it was alot for 3 years too, but thats what we've been told, and that's all we have to go on.

As for not looking like a Springer, he is small, and you're not the only one to think he isn't a Springer. Most people ask if he's got collie in him. But, this is usually by people who don't know dogs. But, he is KC reg. though we don't have the papers.
I wouldn't say he's lacking in type at all. My mum's part of a Spaniel owner group on FB, and we've seen loads on there that look like him.
We keep his fur short, because it's easer to manage, and his fur is super thick so it keeps him cooler too.

3 is alot of problems? Considering all what he's been through, Id think the PTSD is a given. SSA is nowhere near as bad as it used to be. Reacting to other dogs is a rarity now, but it stills happens. Mainly if he thinks the other dog is going near his pee, or if it react to him first.

Squirrels/rabbits/pheasants/other furries outside, he goes mental for.
My furres inside, he is completely trustworthy around. Of course, I would never leave him round them unsupervised. He knows full well I'd rip his guts out if he hurts them, and he is actually scared of the chinchilla, ferret & rats (one of my aggressive girls bit him through the cage bars a few months since, he was fine before that. The chin has also bit him. Dunno why he doesn't like the ferret, probably because she hates dogs.)
My furries don't know him any fear, and they don't act like prey. He's been trusth worthy for the past 4 years, I'm positive he'll continue to be.

Having not being around for the first three years, we of course can't be certain. We can only know what we've been told.

@Ella Bear: It's not a small thing (repeatedly mentioning how stupid you think it is that I got on your case about isn't going to make me drop it either btw). Being around Boxers your whole life doesn't make you knowledgeable about them either. Experience isn't everything.

If you go around saying your dog looks just like a Boxer then yeah, I'm going to point out that she's not correct for a boxer and there's a lot of things wrong. There are already a ton of BYBs and such passing their horrible looking dogs (I'm not Izzy looks horrible) off as champion Boxers. We don't need more misinformation out there. She does look relatively conformationally sound for a dog in general.

Seriously, I've had so many people point out everything that was wrong with Lolita, especially her weight, I have zero sympathy.

@sacrice I am not asking for sympathy here but I am asking you to respect my dog. We already established she isn't pure bred. But here let me give you an example so that you understand more from where I am coming. As stated before Izzy is 3/4 Boxer 1/4 lab. Making her more Boxer than anything. So let's say you have a person who is 3/4 European and only 1/4 Native American. The person goes around saying they areEuropean because that is what a majority of them is made of. So do you think that person should go around saying, " Oh I am European Mix." No, they are most likely going to say, " I am European." Are they misrepresenting their culture? No. People are all different and look different, same with dogs. I have a pure bred Shih-Tzu who is AKC registered and everything but let me tell you he doesn't look pure bred. He is very large in size compared to what a Shih-Tzu should be. His features look exactly like a shah-tzu but his size makes people question if he is really pure bred or not.
But I really don't want to argue because I do not enjoy it and I will start saying Boxer mix if it comes up again. I am not angry with you, nor do I dislike you. Everyone has their own opinion and I respect that. I am sorry for irritating you but I just do not agree with what you have to say entirely. I hope this argument doesn't ruin anything between us.
