A question to everyone feeding their pups high quality food - what brands are good?
My parents usually buy my dog just cheap purina food, but since I can afford it now, I'm looking into buying a big bag of bulk higher quality food since his nails are so flakey and I think it might be from his food. I have heard sighthounds usually do well on Royal Canin and I know Sammi really likes Acana. I've also been looking into Blackhawk but I've heard lots of dogs getting digestion problems. Something affordable but good for their health - any recs?

Thanks! Just looked into it - sounds like a good brand unfortunately it looks like it's only sold in the US and I live NZ :C

maybe ziwipeak. I'm in the US so I'm not sure of the brands you may have over there unfortunately.

Does anyone else have dogs that play weird or not at all?
My pup will get excited and go grab a ball for me to chase her and I get if from her then throw it and then she looks at me like "What was that for?" Then I'll get it and try to get it back to her but then she loses interest and lays down. She likes tug of war but that doesnt go on long either. I feel like a bad owner when I go some days without playing but she just doesnt want to. We still snuggle and go on walks and hikes and rides just toys and chews dont interest her.
Quitting, I will miss everyone so dearly! ♡

The only toys Chloe likes are puzzles that dispense food, lol. I do training with her instead to play with her. My late dog Gumdrop liked a couple of toys but she wasn't a big toy dog either. Sad as there are so many cute/cool toys out there. As long as the dog is getting enough physical and mental exercise then it's find if they don't like toys. Some dogs don't.

Everything others have said-
also what breed & age? Some dogs just aren't ball dogs. My dog showed 0 interest in balls until he was about 10 months old. He would play with just about any other toy before he'd try a ball. Now I can get him to chase & retrieve a ball occasionally when we go to the park ... but that is mostly because he sees other dogs playing with them. He still doesn't do much with balls when we are at home. He much prefers squeaks and toys he can shred (much to my disdain

). It just takes learning what your individual dog likes. And as some have said, some dogs aren't toy dogs, there are other things to try c:

Pro plan is actually very good. It's one of Purina's higher quality foods, my Italian Greyhound is on Pro plan and he does great, no allergies or problems. Not all of purina's dog foods are equal lol.
Taste of the Wild and Merricks are also good foods. Acana is a good choice, but it is on the more expensive side, as is Origin. But they are very good foods.
I don't really recommend Science Diet or Royal Canin unless it's recommended by your vet specifically for a certain diet. Stay away from Beneful, ol' Roy, things like that, but those are going to be a cheaper side anyway and not what you're looking for lol, so I'm sure you know that.

I don't know a lot about Pro Plan, but I completely agree about Science Diet. The brand endorses tons of vets, so they pretty much all recommend it, even though it's not that great. Unless your dog has a medical condition/specific need the food is crafted for, you can definitely find a better food. For example (non-dog), my cat has a metabolic disorder and therefore needs their metabolic diet food or else she'll rapidly gain weight. However, I would
never feed Science Diet to any of my other cats/dogs.
