@.bucky barnes:
Oh my, thank you a lot for taking the time to post this!

My neighbours from across the street have a chihuahua and they bark all the time... let's pray they won't have a barking contest lmao.

I really didnt know about this reversed sneezing at all, so thank you so much for telling me, might save me from a heart attack if she should start doing this. The bathing advice is very helpful, thank you! I will do my best to prevent ear infections. And I heard chihuahuas often have problems with their eyes as well, I already was really careful to not support breeding with too large eyes or a too short snout, so I hope everything will be fine.

Oh my, I read so many books and articles about training the puppy, but they still make me so unsure about if I can do it or not. I've only had bunnies for all my life so far, and they arent hard to train haha. Let's see if I can switch my brain to dog mode. I have a friend with a labrador, maybe I can ask her for advice as well and introduce our dogs to each other.

Two weeks ago I brought her a blanket and a toy to her home, I was thinking this will adapt the smell of the other dogs a little and help with the familiar scent, so I think/hope I got this covered.

Again, thank you a lot for your advice, I really appreciate it! And I expect photos from your pupper soon! (:

I just really need to share this with someone, so
here I am. i posted my pup probably a few pages back
and he has been diagnosed with a case of leash
    reactivity.
just to note, he is perfectly fine with
other dogs when off leash but when on it's a 20/80
result. 20 beings the ideal outcome.
it's something that i have been working on for the
past few months and i think we've made a breakthrough.

we were walking, all is good and well.
in the distance, loki notices this mastiff type dog
who was called back and put back onto it's leash.
when loki notices another dog, he will not move
unless i drag him along. so i just stood next to him.
as the dog approached, i asked him to sit, he did. great.
he just sat next to me but wasn't able to get him
to 'watch me,' as he was too fixed on the other dog.
however, just as it seemed like the other dog had
walked past, it suddenly lunged towards loki (it didn't
appear to be aggressive in anyway, i just think he
    wanted to say hi.)
before it's owner could pull him back, loki, who was
now startled, started to snarl and lunge. a setback
but leading up to that was okay.

anyway, carried on our walk. we did a loop and
ended running into the mastiff again.
you wont believe what loki did...
he froze for a moment and as i walked him off the
path towards one side, he sat in a heel position
and watched me as the other dog walked past.
just to add, his heel command has been shoddy
lately since he is going through this teenage stage.

i think im suffering from shock but i am insanely
proud of my boy. i am just hoping that one day,
ill be able to walk past another dog without
all his theatrics but it's one step at a time.

Was out at the park alone playing ball with Hazel .
I had gotten one of those stick things that help you throw the ball really far .
I have really bad aim .
So I ended up throwing the ball into a large section of rlly rlly tall reeds/ grass ( like 7/8 feet tall ) .
Poor Hazel was SO sad that we lost her ball 😢 but it was too deep in the grass to get back .

Rip Hazel's ball- good thing she has 6 others hidden away lol

get ready for some depressing stuff

we put our hound dog down yesterday. I want to say she was around 14, but i could be wrong.
It all happened in a few hours. She wasn't eating, her back legs had completely stopped working, she didn't bark at anything, like how she was doing just 12 hours before. She fell of the couch, and once she was helped back up, proceeded to not move at all. when i came home from school she lifted her head and my dad told me that was the most she had moved on her own all day. Im gonna be honest in that in the past few months my tolerance for that dog ran very thin but i'm so shaken. it hasn't really kicked that she's gone, either. she was the only dog left from my childhood. i don't think i've ever seen everyone so upset over the loss of an animal. we took her to an emergency vet the day before because she was breathing strange and very, very hot to the touch (this was really late at night, like 10-11 pm ish). they said possible brain tumors and wanted to put her on fluids and keep her overnight. we couldn't pour the money into such an old dog that we knew was going to die. we opted for a painkiller and to take her to our normal vet the next day. today will be our first day without our loud, obnoxious, drooling Lucy and im not sure how were all gonna handle it. they greyhounds seem sad. we have dealt with a lot of pet death over the years but this was so sudden. this is the last picture my mom managed to get of her, before the vet called for her yesterday. obviously not top quality but its quality to me

i think she held on for my big brother, who left to go back to the army on the 5th. she spiraled the day after. i really, really, think she was waiting for my brother to leave, because she was his dog.
