KelsieCollie drew a picture of Atlas (puppy) and Pippin the other day.
I have been trying to get art of specifically Pippin for the past few months due to his health conditions.
With many of his seizures, I thought he was bound to die and so wanted a few drawn pictures of him.
Recently, we got a puppy because Pip had never had a dog-friend in six years.

You don't need and e-collar to do that. You can save yourself a lot of money by teaching him attention other positive games. If you use marker training (such as a clicker) the marker becomes a comforting sound by itself since it is paired with reward.

E-collars are made to cause a shock and can malfunction, why take the chance, even it it's small, if you don't need to? Also if you are out and the batteries in either the collar or remote stop working then you're stuck. Where as if you build confidence without it you don't need it. You can also use a verbal reward maker (like "Yes!" or clucking your tongue) so you never have to worry about being without a clicker either even during the training process.

Ive been using all positive reinforcement, I have clickers and loads of treats.
But I've been working on his shyness for 3 years now and it never hurts to try a new
method. Also there are e-collars that only vibrate and don't shock. I'm at the point where
the vet has offered me anxiety medication and I wouldn't want him taking any. I do use
verbal commands, only "Yes!" In a happy high toned voice and reward him everytime
he's done a good thing. I've been walking him into the vet's office for extra socialization
and they give him treats. I've never used any form of negative or punishment training
on Chance, it's one hundred percent positive and rewarding. We use tools from fitpaws
to boost his confidence and I've gotten him to a point where he will begin to approach
someone after 10 minutes of them slowly sitting down and giving them treats. He doesn't
bite anymore but will let out a low growl if someone goes to hug him, etc.

It's just like if you put a prong collar on your dog everytime they go for a walk,
the dog will associate that with walks and get excited. Or everytime you
go in the car with your dog, you go to the park, your dog will be excited.

In this case, a low vibration on the lowest setting when Chance begins to
get nervous, shows him to come to me and see that everything is ok.
Everytime I use the vibration I would reward him.

I would love to see some salukis, aesthetically they are my favourite breed.

Going on a semi-related tangent here, but I honestly find it funny that I ended up with such a stumpy mutt. I love Olive of course, and I think she's cute. But I can honestly say that I never cared for any of the shorter-legged breeds like corgis/bassets or even bulldogs at all before I got her (perhaps even leaning towards slightly disliking them).

Ah, I see. Although if he doesn't associate a positive interrupter as a calming signal I don't see how the feel of something vibrating against his neck will help. Though I understand how desperate you must be to help him.

Have you considered seeing a holistic vet and looking into some herbal supplements since you don't want to do meds. Chloe's vet gave her a spirit essence when we first got her to help her settle in, and she's prescribed things for her neck pain that works well. There might be something out there that can help him without the side effects of medication. There's also things like ThunderShirts, calming collars, etc. though you have to teach your dog to find comfort in them.

Just a thought. Good luck.

@AGiraffeNamedDallon - There's no way to know for sure, but she looks like maybe Beagle/Jack Russell to me.

Maybe try to get a reliable DNA test like Embark?

Looks Beagle x to me, though. Maybe some variation of Shepherd? or JRT?
