My dog has Blue Buffalo wet and dry food. Not that she eats until my mom gets home xF We used to give her Beneful and Science diet which we were given from the shelter. I convinced my mother to use blue buffalo though. Not to mention plenty of treats ^^

My dog's ProPlan food is almost completely depleted, so when I go to the pet store I'm going to be nabbing a bag of Blue. As well as a new collar and lead, hopefully. I got her when I was rather young and didn't train her too well, so she pulls kinda bad when I walk her... I'm going to fix that. /random off topic

I ended up switching to raw around August and have had fantastic results!
Not only that but I convinced my grandmother to switch her two dogs to raw. (well, she just gives me the money for her dogs and I do the shopping for her and the feeding. She couldn't quite grasp how to do it)
I didn't think Dakota could get any softer/cleaner feeling, he holds muscle mass/weight a lot better now too.

That thigh muscle! <3
His teeth, from this angle atleast, look really good as well. =)

Hello! Popping in to say that we're still on Purina with my dog. (I believe I came on in the early pages or something...)
I seriously wish we could try and switch to something better. I may have to start buying her better food myself! =P
What would be the best choice for my dog?
She's a small Beagle, an adult at this point. I need something that would be healthy for her, but as cheap as I can get.
I'm pretty sure my mom is getting Purina because it's cheap. I've read the ingredients and have been following this thread for a while for advice. Purina is a load of crap, and I really do care for my dog. I want her to be as happy and healthy as possible.
Unfortunately, I'm not old enough to live on my own. I do have a little bit of money, and I can easily earn some by working for my family and such. But I still want to get something that is cheap, but worth it. If it's over what I'm expecting, I'll be fine with it. Anything for my pooch. x3 I love to bits. At least I don't dress her up like some doll. >___>

I started with Canidae Single Grain Protein Plus at like 30lbs for 40ish bucks. After seeing the results I was wwwaayy more willing to fork over a little bit of money. xD
I really recommend buying a bag and trying it out. A beagle should only eat like.. What.. 2 cups..? 1 1/2? A bag will last atleast two months and it should show results.

I forgot about that! Yeah his teeth are fantastic since starting, and my grandmother's little ones, a 7 year old and a 8 year old had never had any teeth care in their life, so they were pretty bad. They've improved sooo much, I wish I had taken before pictures.
Here's Dakota's pearly white smile
The missing tooth was one removed due to being cracked to the pulp. He lost it several months before I started raw, we're not really sure how he cracked it, but most likely during bitework. He hasn't cracked a tooth since starting raw.

And it's not the best example, but he's maintained a good amount of muscle mass considering he has such a slender more streamline build. I'm pretty sold on raw

I have posted here before, awhile back but would like to update, I have tried feeding my dogs raw and my 2 other dogs enjoyed it while my 5 year old pug did not agree with it at all, he had diarrhea for a week because of the food, I was not pleased and neither was he. He has a very sensitive stomach and cannot handle anything but dog food, I feed my dogs Nutri Source and I sadly cannot find anything better but that since my town is small and has no PetSmart or Petco of any sort but a farmers shop where they sell simple pet stuff but more farmer and working products, he does great on it but has loose stools every now and then, I am just wondering if there is a large difference between wellness super5mix and Wellness Core? And could a dog with such a sensitive stomach do good on Wellness?

It's totally normal for dogs to go through a "Detox" stage after starting raw. Their systems have to adjust to the new food, diarrhea is just one of the common results, my boy's coat got really bad for a bit and he lost some weight. But after a few weeks his system got used to it and he did fine from then on.
http://preymodelraw.com/how-to-get-started/Don’t Panic
Hopefully at this point you haven’t seen any digestive upset! But if you have…DON’T PANIC! Dogs that have been on kibble for a long time generally have the hardest time with the switch because their bodies are not used to such a new food. Sometimes dogs go through something that some call the “detox” stage, but to me its more just a transition that the body must undergo from digesting overly processed, species inappropriate foods to whole, fresh, raw foods. During this time, digestive enzymes must change to be able to digest this new diet, and sometimes this can take up to a few weeks. Loose stool, and occasional vomiting is seen during this time, but these usually clear up within a day or so. If not, taking your dog to the vet is a good idea.
Seeing pieces of bone in stool is normal in the beginning, you will see less and less of this as time goes on. The body is in its adjustment phase and is still getting used to breaking down bones. Digestive enzymes are changing and their ability to break down bone becomes more and more affective as time goes on. Don’t panic if you see pieces of bone in your dog’s stool. Trust me, its normal.
This “detox” stage is the reason why weeks 1 and 2 are exclusively one protein source. It poses the easiest route for the body to become adjusted to a 180 degree change in diet. If you were to undergo the same change, going from mostly processed foods to fresh, whole raw foods, your body would not be the happiest in the beginning. In the long term your body would thank you immensely for the added health! Keep up the good work and stay strong. Make sure the connections you have made with your support team are there for you all along the way.
