i have a 20 gal tropical community fish tank with 3 zebra danios, 3 BEAUTIFUL orange leopard guppies, a male dwarf gourami, some ghost shrimp, and a male half moon grizzle betta. dont worry, i tested how aggressive the grizzle betta is and hes chill! i have actually had bad experiences with dwarf gouramis and african dwarf frogs in the past. my first dwarf gourami had a parasite or something and died a slow death over the course of 4 months. they never ate or went up for air. ive also had two african dwarf frogs die. they were fed properly and given a place to sit out of the water, im not sure what happened.

I don't know weather this was OK or not, but a while back, there was a tiny cellar spider where I keep my betta fish. I didn't want to bother taking it outside, so I fed it to Ruby (one of my bettas) and she loved it. Since they are natural insect (and possibly arachanid) eaters, do you think it was OK to feed her that?

I think I will get a snail tank. Just a few snails, Probably ones that can't breed in specific waters xd mainly because I'm still heartbroken bc my betta was a bit more aggressive to other animals than we thought, he's a total sweetheart with me but he murdered his snail brother within a day.
Thank you so much! I would've bought 300$ worth of stuff for a sorority. You really saved me and my parents wallets ^^
There are loads of cool things you can do with a 25 gallon if you like the idea of fish.
Or a snail tank would be cool. If you live in a place that's allowed mystery snails you can end up with all sorts of colourful ones. You could keep ADFs with them too c:

That sounds exciting c: Have you had a saltwater tank before? We love the idea of them but not so much all the creepy hitchhikers you end up with. Or the cost.
You cannot eat love, nor buy a horse with it, nor warm your halls on a cold night

I need some help as soon as possible.
I own a male beta fish and last night when I went to check up on him before going to bed I found him laying on the
bottom of his tank with a large wound on his side. Of course I immediately panicked because I've never encountered this kind of situation before and I spent the rest of the night freaking out and researching what to do. This morning I went out and bought some aquarium salt and I plan to flush his tank to remove as much harmful bacteria as possible to prevent infection. I have no idea how he could have hurt himself. He lives alone in a 2 gallon tank and all plants are silk besides a live marimo ball. (The tank's temperature is 80 degrees Fahrenheit.) He's been either in his hide or laying at the bottom of his tank, however he made an effort to come to the top of the tank and eat this morning. I really need some help because I don't know what to do.

You can use dry base rock instead of live rock. You'll need to cycle like a freshwater tank with ammonia dosing, but once it's cycled it'll serve the same purpose that cured live rock does but without nasties like fireworms and mantis shrimp.

Since I already bought the 25gal and talked about it with my parents, They're letting me have two hermit crabs as soon as i buy the eco earth, heating stuff etc. etc. but I am gonna have a snail tank with the african dwarf frogs QwQ Hopefully it will turn out well as they are gonna get my bettas current tank as soon as i upgrade his current tank =w= Thank you for the advice! I didn't know they could really stay together (snails n frogs) so your confirmation really put me in a good spot!

What type of heater and filter do you have? Do they have any nooks that he could have gotten stuck into and then while wiggling out got himself injured? I lost few guppies that way, as I didn't think they would have been able to get behind one filter...
I would advise against full water change, as it tends to do more harm than good for fish due them getting usually stressed and possible cause osmotic stress due possibly water parameters changing drastically. So rather than full change I would suggest 25-50% daily/every other day water changes to keep the water clean enough and also feeding lightly.
____________
You know it's fall when you have to turn on the heater... : P Basically it's been so warm during the summer I haven't had to use a heater at all to keep the tank temp steady and high enough, last couple nights I've noticed it's getting pretty chilly in my room, so checked the tank today and it was 24C, which is tad too chilly for the betta. Also I have some very stubborn blue green algae that refuses to leave with just nitrogen addition, which has worked previously against it when I've had it (in small amounts though, it's getting moderate now).

Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

I have had the new fishies for almost 2 months for now. The baby guppy/endler has grown pretty nice and has pretty amazing color, but he's very nippy towards the other guppy male... He does leave the betta alone though. Betta I think is a plakat as his tail really hasn't grown much during this time. ^^ Color vise he's the plain mix of red and blue shades so nothing exciting really. I'm still having troubles with the blue-green algae, but at least my plants are doing pretty decent.
