x2 on six months. As a general rule, before first heat (which occurs ~6mos) for queens, and before mating season (~6mos-1yr) for toms. I have seen that toms generally get larger and appear heavier bones if they're allowed to remain intact until they hit their first year, but I haven't seen any specific health pros or cons for it. The thing with toms is that an intact tom is much more likely to spray once he reaches sexual maturity or when he's exposed to a queen in heat (and the second one isn't much preventable if you have strays or feral cats in the area) than a neutered male. Cats can be safely operated on as soon as they are at least 2lbs, but most vets prefer 4-6mos for kittens.

My girl was spayed when I got her and she was about 1yr 2mos. It's very likely that she's had at least one litter of kittens in the meantime as she was an outdoor only cat that was ignored and never saw a vet, and her paperwork said that she'd come in with other cats from the same person and I'm wondering if those were her kittens. I had my vet take a look at her flappity teats and larger-than-average nipples and she agrees that Saff's had at least one litter before coming in. Luckily she only displays one queen behavior and that is that she starts nest-building when kitten season rolls around, like she's expecting to be pregnant. I just give her a bunch of boxes and she derps around with those for a few weeks and then ignores them again :3

A raw diet is great for cats too ^^
My Pet Carnivore sells fine ground meat/organ/bone mixes that are good for cats/kittens as a starter. If you want to go with more solid meats though, you can start to add soft bones once the kitten is completely on raw and his system has adjusted:3

All my animals are on partial raw diets..;D I honestly just do not have the time for prep when it comes to a fully raw diet, although it would most likely end up being cheaper for me. :l

I'm read a few places that kittens can be altered as early as 7 weeks with no adverse effects, its just harder to find a vet to do it.

I just love raw diets ^^ Also I meant to add, if you haven't looked already, MPC has some pretty cheap prices on their meat, which is one of the reasons I love to buy from them :3
When it comes to cats and bones, I think that chicken and rabbit bones are the best because they are very soft. I don't think you should go much harder than that. But I could be wrong, I've never had a cat on raw before...

Yes I think it is perfectly safe to neuter at an earlier age without complications, but yeah you'll probably have a harder time finding a vet that'll do it so early.

I also found a 'sushi' site for animals.. I think its S.A.D. Sushi or something.. They have 1.99/lb on all their ground and have rabbit, venison, buffalo, quail, and a few of the 'norm' foods. Lol. I'm just afraid of getting bulldozed over by shipping costs.
Yeah.. Chicken, quail, chicks, rabbit, rats, and mice I think are all the safest.

I think I'll just aim for around 3 months, I think thats the earliest out low cost clinic will do it.
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

vets like 6 months at the latest for the reason of size they can do it younger (iv seen a 5 month old who was sprayed cause she was in a boarding place) ,when i got my runt pandi the RSPCA who spray befor sending pets out couldnt spay her cause she was to small (she could fit in a coffie mug with room)

we waited longer for ellie as shes an indoor cat but we where waiting but then she got out without us knowing so i got her spayed that week (at about 7 months)

i need a new signature

If I remember correctly my kittens were spayed and neutered at 2 months old. It's common in my area for all the shelter kittens to be sterilized around 8-9 weeks, and it's not difficult at all to find a vet that will do it. Generally weight, rather than age, is the bigger factor, so if you have a small cat you might get stuck having to wait longer. Maybe private(for lack of a better word at the moment) vets don't do it as much, but if you have a vet that works with shelter animals, and has an open office where the public can make appointments, then I'd start there. ;)

The girl you just called fat, she's overdosing on diet pills.
The girl you just called ugly, she spends hours putting makeup on.
The boy you just tripped, He is abused enough at home.
That guy you just made fun of for crying, his mother is dying.
Put this as your sig if your against bullying.
I bet 95% of you wont re-post this, but I'm sure the people with a heart will.
92% of the girls would cry if Justin Bieber fell off a cliff.
7% of the girls would scream and jump after him.
1% of the girls would have pushed him off.
Put this in your sig if you are the 1% who pushed him. Image Image 94% of people think wolves are evil. I don't.

I have a little female kitten about 2 months old or so. She is really, really loud and energetic.

Question: How do you get a kitten to stop peeing down vents?

My little girl, Nyx won't stop peeing down the register vents, and we have tried even covering, and cleaning them. Even tried the old viniger trick.

This may or may not work, but try putting her in the litter box every time she does it. She might eventually get the point.
