UPDATE
Couldn't wait for a reply since the fish store isn't open on Sundays and Monday's so I just got a male and the shop keeper said the drop and raise in temp kick starts the breeding cycle. I moved around the plants and added a male platy and now things are back to normal.
Okay I have a major problem.
This is what I have:
10 gal tank
heated
Ph balances are good (everything's great water wise)
2 female platys (micky+tux)
****notes*****
Have had these fish since June and have not restocked or added to the tank because 1. Don't have a quarantine tank and 2. Want to phase out owning fish besides my Betta.
5gal
heated, also great water bla bla I checked both tanks yesterday before I did a 20% water change
1 solo beta
--------
SO my problem here is I noticed the micky wasn't around during feeding yesterday and found her in the gravel at the back so I checked the Ph and did a water change like I normally do every week and then I sorta made her eat by netting her and bringing her to the surface. She ate and got spunk in her step but I noticed her gills were red. She swam out and was eating on her own looking totally fine until the tux slammed into her and attacked her gills.
I tried to see what my Betta would do if I added her to his tank but he got defensive and tried to bite her through the zip lock she was in.
SO my question is why is she all of a sudden getting picked on and is my only option of saving her adding more platys to the tank?
Also not sure if this is important But we just had a major 48 hour long power outage that dropped their tanks to the 60°F range for the duration.
any and all help is greatly appreciated
