I TOTALLY AGREE! we got a new puppy and the first thing we do is read the ingredients in his food. Don't know if that helps but still he's doing good. I hate all these food scammers who would put anything in kibble that will one day be the dinner of someone's baby, buddy or "brother", all for money. It's really sad, somethings should be outlawed in food, dog or human.

You should add Bakers dog food to the list. It's terrible, the highest content if food coloring and there is hardly any meat in it!
Sorry for my slow response time on RP's. My new job steals ALL my time. :(

Currently my dog is on ProPlan(the salmon kind), but I'd like to switch her to something like Blue Buffalo. Is the 'sensitive stomach'(it could just be 'sensitive', I don't remember) salmon + potato stuff any good? I can get a picture of the ingredients the next time I run into Petsmart.

I'd give it a shot. =)

Generally 'out there' proteins like venison, duck, fish, rabbit, and bison seem to be easier on sensitive tummies. Natural Balance has a duck and pea thats worth a shot and Natures Variety has a rabbit formula. Blue buffalo wilderness also has a duck and a turkey venison, along with the salmon. =) Earthborn Holistic has a fish and a venison and its one of the cheapest grain-free's. Some of the above are completely grain-free and some of them aren't, but they are all things to look into. Generally 'sensitive' stomach foods are just limited ingredients and tend to cut out major allergens, or atleast try.

Did you even read the post? She didn't purposefully posion her dog. And you're obviously not a canine...

EDIT:
Also, we ran out of Innova and my grandma wasn't here to buy it from the usual store, so my dad found a decent food for once! Apparently "Newman's Own" has a dog food and the first ingredient is meat! They actually loved the stuff and no upset tummies! (:

I feed my pup science diet and royal medical. Now I do not need opinion on this because this was recommend for my dog by a vet. So I am sure that I am not feeding him poison, but feel free to express your opinion on my choice.

Your choice is your choice. The point of this thread is pet education, not to make people feel bad about what they're feeding. If you have educated yourself on the matter at hand, weighted the pros and cons, and still find S/D a great food.. Awesome, good for you.

I will say this though: Just because its recommended by a vet does not make it any better than any other food. Vets are humans and therefore limited by education and experiences. Some vets completely reject S/D, while others worship it. Its up to you, the pet owner, to make your own decision after proper research.

While on the topic of S/D, many vets have very little official nutrition education. In most institutes the nutrition courses are paid off by Science Diet, or Purina, or IAMs. Its rather screwed up because the national vet association have done studies on the affects of BHT and BHA and their finding showed that at worst these two chemicals sped up the formation and growth of tumors, often cancerous, and at best they simply promoted tumor growth. Guess who's a big supporter of Science Diet, which contains BHT and BHA?

It depends on the education and experiences. My dad is the vet. He has been to every school across Canada doing vet school. As he wants to be good. He now in China helping with the panda's. I think my dad has a idea of what it good for my dog. Also if you want to know something. The Science Diet we feed him is our brand? I know their is a brand of dog food called that ,but me and my dad make home made dog food. The reason we call it science diet is because we just read a bag and liked the name. So we called it that. I know we can be sued by the company, but we will change then. Thanks for the advise and It was taken in and heard loud and clear. We were just talking about two different dog foods. The Royal Medical is actually that is made in Fort Nelsom. It has meat of elk and other stuff.

I feed my dogs (And cats) Nature's Select o-o I'm pretty sure it's not a well known brand but they deliver it too your house and such, they also give free samples and I haven't noticed anything wrong with my animals and I have been feeding it to them for over two years. So I would say it's okay, all the ingredients are meat and actual food.
