my baby is under surgery at the moment. they've found cancer which spread to his liver.
he may or may not come out of it -- and even if he does make it out, he'll only have a few months to live.
    i'm devastated.

@littlebodybigheart - i am so sorry to hear that. i had that same thing happen so if you need anybody, im here for you.

@lmarani - its always hard, im so sorry you had to go through that.

@skysong - i had about the same thing happen except .. chaotic. my neighbors bred wirehaired pointers. those arent small dogs. theyre energetic. they need space to run. they also have a labrador and some terrier mix. these dogs were always out and are still always out. several times we had LITTERS of puppies on our doorstep. we tried to be nice as we knew they had a 2 year old daughter and sometimes dogs escape. our niceness disappeared when we literally watched the neighbors open their kennel runs and then leave .. like drive away. we returned a puppy with a broken leg at around 12 am. this puppy’s leg was not just broken but COMPLETELY screwed up. the lady got mad cause she has a baby in the house. i hope that puppy got her leg fixed. i would steal any of these dogs in a heartbeat. they once had a dog try to get in the backyard to literally attack our dogs. their labrador (who is the only sweet one besides the puppies) is chained up and so skinny. the terrier runs all over the place. well, one day one of their females escaped. she was running all over the place chasing cows, ripping up crap, etc. i didnt think much of it cause as you can tell it isnt new for them to not watch their dogs. an hour passes and a neighbor is at the door. this dog had killed their cat and obviously they werent happy. the cops were called after i told the neighbor it was the one people’s dogs. the owners of the dog? not home. the dog ended up getting hit by a car and probably rehomed or put down. all their puppies are gone. we saw the sheriff at their house not long after. they only have the lab, one pointer and a terrier.

its insane how you can own dogs and not give a care about what they do during the day. i wish i could turn back time and bring those dogs to the vet and say they’re ‘strays’. with the conditions these animals were in. none of these dogs were welcomed inside besides one of the puppies and the terrier. the rest were either tied up or in kennel runs. imagine 12 large puppies (3 months) and their mom in a small kennel run? i wish i couldve kept that little girl with the broken leg. she deserved more. who knows how long she had had it like that? and if the owners even did fix it? ugh. they should really get more serious with dog owner laws and animal abuse.

I'm sorry, he was a very pretty boy. It's always hard when it's time to say goodbye.

I think this is the first picture of JJ as an adult that really shows her size. She tends to look huge in pictures, but she's not that big. Both Duke and Lucy were way larger than her. I like that she's a good medium size dog, I'm not that big of a person lol.

Also, she found a can earlier and was showing it to everyone. She just walked up to every family member + my brothers friend to nudge them with her can, I think she was very proud.

I'm so sorry for you. I hope he survives the surgery so you have a little more time with him. If he doesn't though at least you'll know he wasn't in pain when he passed *hugs*

Who else loved Puppy Bowl? Chloe wasn't impressed but was a good sport wearing the bandana I made her and letting me wave her paw around to cheer on team Fluff. All the puppies were adorable, but it was great to see Villalobos' Hannah take the field after seeing her in last weeks episode not even being able to stand.

I had plenty of material left over so am making some "Adopt Me" me bandanas to throw in with the blankets for http://www.ComfortforCritters.org Any one else do shelter/rescue crafts? Any tips on how I can improve the bandanas? Should I make the lettering smaller or keep it at the bottom?

Happy Birthday to my cutest little girl! Lacey is officially two today, and I cannot believe how much she’s changed. She’s honestly the best dog I could ever wish for, and always keeps me on my feet with her strange & crazy antics. Love this girl so so much!

Coy pasted from somewhere else for ease. Not giving or looking for medical advice; we have a great vet thanks. Thought you guysx would enjoy our misadventure in weird dog injuries.

-
Just fished a piece of wood out of a spay incision/scar.

Early January our girl Sardonyx got spayed. Right at the week mark she stepped on a stick and managed to stab herself in the incision and popped a stitch. Our vet said we were in the clear and it wouldnt need another stitch put in; the rest of the insicion was pink and sealled.

Fast forward to last night. Routine grooming stuff I noticed a pinhead sized blister on top of her scar and it was central in a raised patch. Got a closer look and touched it, it immedaitely expressed blood and murky fluid. Great, time to call the vet about an infection. Ugh. Cleaned it up, antibioticed it, whatever.

Checked on it today before calling the vet. No blister, the bit of swelling was mostly gone. Not red or warm or anything. Okay... so no infection? Touched it and it was sharp. What the heck. Got a strong light and my glasses. Double what the heck. Thats not supposed to be there! Looked like a tiny splinter. Disinfected it, got a knife (for scrapping! Not cutting!!! Lol, like you would against the grain with a toe splinter), gave it a squeeze from the base to get a better look and..... more than a splinter popped out. I swear she like sighed and melted in relief. Picture in the links not gory but still lol.

Cant wait to show and tell my vet.
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

I have a puppy problem lol. My crazy border collie puppy, Finn, won't learn paw. He's about 7-8 months old now and doesnt like us touching his paws like the little drama king he is. Any tips to get him to do it? We've tried with slightly different variations such as touch, bit he will only put his paw on a paper plate. Not on our hands. I know he is smart, I've seen it. He's just stubborn as heck.

Start slower. Mark and reward for just reaching for the paw, then touching it, then putting your hand around it, before moving on to grasping the paw. Once you've desentized touching his paw, training paw should be easier.

To that effect slowly cut away from the paper plate until it's a small enough to easily hold in your palm. Once he's successfully targeting that lay your hand on the floor, palm up, with the paper plate target on top. If he still targets, give him a big reward. Once he's comfortable with that slowly move your hand inch by inch (or less if needed) up with the paper plate target on it. Move it upwards, as long as he continues to succeed, up to the point you want to be at. Then start cutting away at the paper plate again until there's nothing left to target but your palm. Once he's successfully at that (you're 100% sure he'll do it) you can add a verbal cue. Go at his pace and back track or slow down as needed.
