I think wolves are fascinating, but being a person going into Biology, I pretty much find most animals fascinating. All species have unique qualities about them that make them interesting.
I'm not really sure why wolves as a species seem to strike a nerve especially with teens and preteens. Perhaps because there's a lot of romanticism of wolves in various forms of media, in media targeted at their age group as well.

I like wolves, and I agree with fostering their growth and *generally* reducing their hunting but goodness people do romanticize them and it can have stupid consequences.
For example, I live in an area that has (or used to have) a very distinct subspecies of timber wolf. A very rare subspecies, a bit smaller than your average timber-wolf I think. Anyways, they decided to introduce wolves from Canda here (which are bigger) and thinking they would interbreed and YAY WOLVES! But... in actuality, these wolves just killed all the native subspecies wolves. Plus, because they're bigger (they evolved bigger because they hunt moose and caribou, which exist here but not in the same amount as in Candada) they've had some weird effects on local game populations (the native wolves would primarily be hunting elk and white tail).
I'm not against having them around, but people really really need to be smart and recognize effects of subspecies and unique enviromental niches.

I am a holibomber!
I have gifted 32 people.
I have received 16 gifts.

I think both animals are pretty and I personally hate killing them, but they are bad problem where I'm at =(
They are overpopulated, and our neighbourhood went on a kind-of killing spree after three coyotes killed an old lady's dog. And I'm always having to nightguard the property because coyotes and wolves are a constant threat to our goats.
However, I get severely annoyed when I get stuff for protecting my animals just because "I KELLED DA WULF!" I'm sorry, I love wolves and coyotes, but when they are a threat to my pets I feel I have the right to eradicate them for protection.

Hi! i LOVE wolves they are one of the animals that formed dogs! But i don't like it that we are putting them before other animals. What about the elephants in Africa that are being poached. And the tigers in Asia. I know wolves are becoming extinct but guys come on they aren't the only animal in the world. I am sorry if i am sounding rude but i love all animals.... yes wolves are my favorite animal but we cant just focus on them or else all the other poor animals in the world won't have anyone to stand up for them. Thanks!

Since when? True there are certain sub-species that are still struggling in parts of the world, but as a whole, especially in North America, wolves are very protected on reservations and state parks. There are many programs dedicated to breed and bring the species back as thriving as it was a few hundred years ago. In many places it is illegal to shoot a wolf without a license and a good reason.
I'm not on here much anymore to talk, just trade.
Willing to do FR trades.
Don't message me. I'll rarely respond to trades sent to me unless I asked for them.

Yes but that doesn't mean there won't be poachers that won't care about the animal they just want money. even with all the protection we have they are still becoming extinct! Yes, they may not be as endangered as pandas or tigers but they matter just as much. And just like hunters in Africa are damaging the population of the elephants they are damaging the population of the wolves here.

Yes, people kill wolves. Still, they are in no immediate danger of going extinct. Pandas and tigers are. Yes, wolves do deserve some protection, and the way we're going they will die out eventually, but pandas and tigers and elephants and all the other actually endangered species are a lot more urgent and need the protection more.
