Their eyes are bright and shiny with no discharge or anything. I can say I'm shocked, simply because they're on a Purina food. They're doing even better on this than they ever did on Blue Buffalo, and I can't help but wonder why.

Even though One Beyond is a Purina food it's actually not bad for Purina food. Saff's coat and eye improvements happened when I switched her from Science Diet to One Beyond. The main reason I switched her from that onto EVO is because I'd gotten a free sample bag from my vet buddy and noticed how much less dander she shed and how I didn't even know she was still carrying a good half pound of fat until she shed it with EVO. Then recently I've noticed her ear is much easier to take care of, and that sort of sold it on me because that ear is a pain in my rear! If the ear and allergy issue weren't such a problem for me I would have switched her back to One Beyond.

Its a bit grain heavy, but theres nothing awful in it. A friend recently brought to my attention a food called Applaws I think it was.. Its a pretty great food and found in the UK. Ziwipeak, Acana, and Orijen are also great kibbles.

Just a bit of news for you all { my dad informed me of this recent occurrence }.

The FDA traveled to China in order to collect samples of Purina's chicken jerky treats, due to an overwhelming number of reports of dogs that became ill or even died due to the treats. These treats include "Waggin' Train", a popular brand that can be found in many supermarkets and pet specialty stores. The workers and officials in the plants in China refused to let the FDA independently analyze the contents of these treats; thus, there is no clear result of this inspection. However, it seems that, due to the deaths of many peoples' dogs, the treats may not be fit to feed. The FDA cannot officially recall the treats without an inspection.
Previous to this report a warning was announced, in which pet owners were warned not to feed their dogs any treats containing chicken jerky that were made in China.

Heads-up to you all, just in case.

Crap. My dog eats Pedigree. Thank you so much for this. o.o
But I have a question; we have these free samples from a brand called Nature's Variety. Is this a good doog food? The specific food was called Nature's Variety Instinct: Chicken Meal Formula. Here's the ingredient list. Does it pass? He seems to like it, I fed him a few pieces.

Chicken Meal, Tapioca, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols and Citric Acid), Pumpkinseeds, Menhaden Fish Meal, Sun-Cured Alfalfa Meal, Montmorillonite Clay, Natural Chicken Flavor, Vitamins (Choline Chloride, Vitamin E Supplement, Ascorbic Acid, Biotin, Niacin Supplement, Vitamin A Acetate, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Carotene, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid), Minerals (Zinc Proteinate, Iron Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Sodium Selenite, Ethylenediamine Dihydriodide), Salt, Dried Kelp, Inulin, Flaxseed Oil, Apples, Carrots, Peas, Cottage Cheese, Chicken Eggs, Rosemary Extract, Yeast Culture (Saccharomyces Cerevisiae), Dried Enterococcus faecium Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus niger Fermentation Extract, Dried Trichoderma longibrachiatum Fermentation Extract, Dried Bacillus subtilis Fermentation Extract, Freeze Dried Chicken, Freeze Dried Turkey, Freeze Dried Turkey Liver, Freeze Dried Turkey Heart, Ground Chicken Bone, Butternut Squash, Broccoli, Lettuce, Spinach, Salmon Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar, Parsley, Honey, Blueberries, Alfalfa Sprouts, Persimmons, Olive Oil, Duck Eggs, Pheasant Eggs, Quail Eggs, Rosemary, Sage, Clove.

Yeah, there's a ton of stuff in this. o.o

I'm feeding Natures Variety Instinct right now! :D Mines raw boost, though. It has freeze dried raw chicken chucks in it. They look like mini owl pellets. >_> I broke one apart and it was shred of chicken and little tiny pieces of bone. Was pretty awesome.

Natures Variety Instinct is honestly one of the best kibbles out there next to Evo and Orijen. I buy it when it can be afforded and a 25lb bag lasts my 50lb dogs for just over 2 months. =) Broken down its about 30 bucks a month for a 50lb dog. If it honestly can bot be afforded my next favorite food is Earthborn Holistic Primitive Naturals which is 30lbs for 50 bucks and lasts me 56 days give or take.. So.. 25 bucks a month.

Could you mix dog food brands to get benefits from both or should you not do that? However I would prefer to feed my dogs raw meat, my parents buy the dry bags of food depending on which brand is cheapest that week, and we tend to mix two different brands together.
If you'd like any of my pets in the "pets without a group" group, feel free to send a trade!

Cool, thanks Cardinal! It does sound a little pricey, maybe we can mix it in with some other stuff so it lasts longer c:

There was an annual dog fair in our city a few months back; we received some samples of a food called "Evanger's" { I think } and I was wondering how that compares to other brands, since I've never heard of it before.

I looked it up online and found that it had been given a warning by the FDA because it lied about what was in its foods { the lamb and rice food had beef material instead of lamb }. Ingredients seem good.

I feed my dog blue buffalo's wilderness (no grain) formula. It's great. It took some convincing to show my mom it is worth it. My cats also eat blue buffalo, but not the grain free type. Their stomachs are more sensitive so its harder for them to transition foods.
