@Tikaani
I'm not sure. I have 4 cats. 2 of them aren't trained
There's a creamy orange long - hair with darker markings. (maybe Norwegian forest, not sure.) male, he is trained.
Another is a female long - hair. Not sure what she is. Looks like a Himalayan / more Siamese than Persian. She is trained.
Black long - hair male. He is kind of a... mutt, I guess you could call it. He is Bombay and other unknown, also the son of one of my cats.
Long - hair female, exactly like the trained girl, but no tail and, of course, a few differences. The mother of the cat above c:

Prince, the first cat listed. He's my big baby.
(The image is rotated... it was actually horizontal...)

I trained Millie years ago to sit, stand on her hind legs for about 3 seconds, sit pretty, come when she's called, lie down and stay. I also taught her this weird trick where if she has her claws out, I will say to her "paws not claws" and she automatically puts her claws away, it's a bit strange. It actually wasn't hard at all to teach her. She was very willing to learn and loves treats. If I do some training with my new puppy out in the garden, Millie will sometimes come over and join in if she recognises some of the commands.

So I have no idea about training cats so I'm sticking outta this one.
Wizzy is one my lap right now, I was about to go to sleep and he hopped on me.
Is it just me or is impossible to sleep without my cat?
He's kinda fat right now because he broke into the cat food bag and we had no where else to put it... he eats the dogs food anyway if he decides he's not full enough so I gave in and let him feed himself until the bag was done XD
I mean he's not too fat but whenever you pick him up he is extra cuddly because he's a bit bigger.
Anyway I hope this doesn't count as diet, I'm not looking for advice or anything. I just wanted to talk about my cat, even if it was to myself

I tried teaching sit to my kitten, but he seems to have too little of an attention span for that. He'd either reach for my hand to get the treat, or already be elsewhere doing something else and ignoring me. He does come when he's called, though, and loves following me around.

My cats aren't trained, as such. Arty used to fetch things for us (he was great, compared to my dogs who don't understand the concept of "fetch") but they don't do anything like sit or lay down on command. My older cats are going senile, so I don't think it would be a good idea to try teaching them now x3

And Arty just gives me a withering stare whenever I try to hug him or teach him something. He gets embarrassed, haha.
Oh, I almost forgot, the cats do come when we call them or make noises. Though if we do call them, the dogs almost always come running as well, so the cats end up getting trampled and the dogs get hissed at. We always sound like a crazy house when that happens, so we tend to let the cats do what they want, so to prevent any injuries or accidents.

@The Silver Brumby
I can't sleep without Pickles and my sister can't sleep without Lenney. Or the other way around - the cats scratch on the doors if they don't get their night time cuddles. They sort of have a schedule, haha. I like it though, except for when Pickles gets her claws stuck on me (she doesn't know how to retract her claws lol.)

To the original question: It's totally possible to train cats, but as others have said, cats do have minds of their own and some of them just aren't suitable to be trained. Good luck, anyway!

It's completely possible to train any cat to do just about anything. All it takes is finding the right motivator. For instance in our house of three, one cat will work for anything even slightly edible, one will only work for shrimp or cheap treats while the best bet for the last cat is simply pets.

Really, if zoos can teach lions, hyenas, elephants, pandas and even a freaking tortoise to move into certain positions for medical procedures including blood draws from sensitive areas, you can teach your cat to sit.
"Only ignorance! Only ignorance! How can you talk about only ignorance? Don't you know that it is the worst thing in the world, next to wickedness? - and which does the most mischief, heaven only knows. If people can say 'Oh! I did not know, I did not mean any harm,' they think it is all right."

Hmm, I didn't know my cat was this... Weird.
She looks out the window, which is funny because she puts her front paws on the windowsill & stretches her body completely out.
But anyway, after a while of looking, she just..
Bangs her head against the window trying to jump out.
I know this isn't good, and my mother wouldn't let me take her to the vet.
Any way to stop this? Does it really matter? Because I'm fine with her looking out the window, they're all properly sealed and stuff, but she does the head-hitting thing more than once every day.

Wait, is she jumping into the glass from the floor or hitting her head on the window when she's laying in front of it?

She's standing up using her front paws for support on the windowsill and then trying to jump out.

Ok! It sounds like she may not know that there's a barrier there. You can put tape on the window or a decal so that she can tell there's something in the way.

She may also just be hitting her head trying to get into the windowsill just to look out. My cat kept doing this with my kitchen window, so I put a cat tree in front of it. Now she lounges in the tree and looks out and she hasn't hit her head on the glass since I moved the tree!
