@beanmeboi: Simba is adorable! I'd love to hear more about him!

JJ has a ton of muscle, but I can't seem to get her to loose fat. I have to push to feel any of her ribs, and she doesn't have much of a tuck. Her food intake is already pretty low, she's fed 2% of her body weight in raw. Aside from some extra fat, she's incredibly healthy. She's been to the vet recently and all her bloodwork is normal. Any ideas for getting her into shape? We play fetch, tug, and walk about a mile everyday.
She has muscle (and it's easily visible)! She is in shape and fit. To me she looks to be at a healthy weight. Just buff, haha!
Just like a human, when you bulk up and add muscle, your ribs are going to be harder to feel. There is muscle over them. (You might also notice that muscular people with really strong cores have more of a square shape than an hourglass shape. It is similar in dogs.)
If you just want her to have a lower body fat percentage, then just like humans, it isn't about how much she is eating but rather what she is eating. Because you will need to eat a good amount of food to build and maintain muscle. But if you want it to do a lean bulk you still have to eat a good amount - just different food.
If you just want her skinny that's when you would really reduce the quantity of food but most people don't want a skinny dog - they want a fit and healthy dog.
That being said, if you want her to be lean and muscular then you have to feed her high protein, higher fiber, lower fat, low carb/sugar. What types of meats are you feeding her? Red meats wouldn't be a good choice because they aren't a lean protein unless you're picky about the cuts you're feeding her.

Both of your dogs are really cute <3
If you don't remember, I
posted on this thread a while back asking for advice on how to convince my parents to get me a dog.
After some research and spending 6 hours writing them a letter, they kind of said yes. Basically they'll get me a dog if I resolve this one issue: who would walk the dog if nobody's around?
Usually, my house is pretty empty. On most days, nobody apart from my cat is home from 8:30 to 2:25. I looked online and a lot of sites say that an adult dog can go for somewhere between 6 to 10 hours. That's pretty long, but I'm still worried that the dog might use the bathroom in the house, even though the one we may adopt says he's "impeccably housebroken" on petfinder. But that's not my biggest problem. My parents are worried that when I go off to college and my brother goes to high school, that 6-hour period where nobody's home will increase to 7:30 to about 3:45. If he decides to join some clubs or after-school activities, it could be even longer.
Dog walkers can be expensive, especially if we hire one on a daily basis.
So what I'm trying to ask here is, what can I do as an alternative to two daily bathroom walks for my potential dog?
Thanks for any help c:
My dogs go from 9am-6pm when i go to church with very rare problems. I think if it is as housebroken as they say it would be fine.

finn is such a beautiful dog... i love how clear those handsome eyes of his are. his markings are pretty cute too! i'm usually not one to fawn over smaller-type dogs, but i really like terrier-types (i think he has some terrier in him, right? if you're not sure, that's alright), and finn especially is very beautiful.

what is your dog's most advanced trick?
You and Lucky have come so far, I'm so proud of you guys <33
For JJ's most advanced trick... somehow managing to annoy me at all hours of the night. Lol, jk jk, probably spinning around. I never really got into teaching her tricks. She can climb vertically over three meters up trees, but that's not something I taught her, she just loves jumping and I'll probably get her into wall climb one day. She'll also find Pete if I tell her to "go get Pete" which is more adorable than advanced.
