I'm glad you watch her, hopefully that'll help you understand what I'm trying to say. ^_^ Clicker training can be very hard for some people to pick up unless they've seen it explained. I use a verbal clicker myself.

This is very good. I am glad you do this, because i think more people should try using clicks if they are having trouble, though i dont use one because my dog is very smart and learns off ear and hand signals. :)

My "verbal clicker" is the word "Yes"... and it doesn't teach the dog things. It marks the exact moment they did something right. You know how people will say "GOOD!" whenever the dog does what they wanted, and then they'll treat? That becomes a marker, which is what a clicker is. ;)

I would love to try lure coursing... if they have it for dogs other than Gryhounds in our area. And, if I can get my dog to be a non-attacker.

Would you happen to know how to teach the dog not to step on the line, or if it hurts them?

I do lure coursing, and it's not really something you can teach because a good lure coursing dog will have only one thing on it's mind. We are with a group that does only Whippet, Saluki, and sometimes other Sighthound races but they still allow us to practice. (My dog is a German Shepherd mix) I have never seen a dog hit it, as they run it so to avoid the strings.

Also we started Lure coursing when he was dog aggressive and fearful of people, as long as they stay on the lure and you keep them under control you should be fine.

Yeah, I watched a mini schnauzer run by himself and his foot got stuck on the line. I think he yelped... I just don't want my gal to be cut or anything like that. And the association I'd run them for would require them to wear soft muzzles, so I think if she has a muzzle, there is a smaller chance of attack there.

My dog wouldn't need to be taught -- I don't think any dog does. but we'd have to work on conditioning. She's kind of tubby, but damn, she can run!

Soft muzzles?... I don't think you should use soft muzzles at all. (If they're the ones I'm thinking of) Basket muzzles should be used, they provide room for the dogs to open their mouths and breath while running and are safe. Baskerville Ultras are amazing they can take treats, drink, pant, and they're very light and don't cause overheating. :)

Yeah, I meant basket. I said soft because the basket muzzle I've looked at have a softish "basketing"... it isn't necessarily metal or mesh. Dear God, I can't talk today.
