I'm okay with it as long as:
A) It's done humanely and quickly
B) It's only to control overpopulation
C) The...er..leftover wolf is put to good use. E.g: it's cooked and eaten.

You mean you don't ride around in kangaroo pouches?! (kidding, of course lol). Do people actually think that though? That just boggles my mind xD

I'm assuming you mean the Northwest Territories? And by Native you mean Aboriginal/First Nations, and not simply natives of Canada? I can't say I've ever tried caribou... Or that the majority of the Natives ("Indians") in the southern provinces have much to do with caribou... We farm elk ("wapiti"! x3) quite a bit though, but that's different. I can't say I've ever eaten elk though, either.

Caribou are classed as least concern, same as the gray wolf. They're not in any more or less trouble. The main concern with animals like caribou is avoiding damage to the lichen supplies.

Again, I stated that you can correct me If I am wrong. I am against sterotyping people, I don't think that's right.
I have not researched enough on this topic to know a lot about it, but if anybody knows the effect caribou has on people in Alaska and Canada I would be glad to hear it, I do know that tame caribou(Reindeer) are often raised among the artic people of Alaska and Canada according to a few websites, and those people are who I was refering too.

Raising reindeer/caribou in Canada: http://www.albertareindeer.com/

I wouldn't worry about the caribou. Wolves have been pretty much extirpated from most of Alberta, so they won't be hunting those caribou any time soon. If you go up north or into the rockies you might get lucky and see some.

They go to the grocery store.

Do people seriously think we live in igluus and drive dogsleds up here to survive? I thought that was just a running joke in America o_O
We just do that stuff for fun. It's skookum.

There are people out there that do depend on the caribou for their meat and DONT have access to a grocery store. Its vital that wolf populations are kept down, or these types of people ( not being racist toward the natives. ) will die out due to starvation.

Dude...The largest problem in the First Nations communities is gangs, drugs and alcohol lol. And that's not me being racist.

I support fully.

Even if some go to the grocery store. Others dont have the money. It is in fact to go out cheaper to go out and hunt your own food. Who is to say that some dont do that.
Heck right now I am talking to a guy who hunts and he said he can probably get me around 80 pounds of meat for around $50.
Meaning I would be paying around .60 or more cents per pound. For the cheapest meat (which is the turkey) is .91 per pound.

To be honest I am kinda' suprised too. I though I was going to have a whole mob of people chasing me down with torches and pitchforks c:

@Toru and their big post full of quotes c: (Couldn't reply directly to this because of the silly quote rule)

I am not very educated on the topic of how caribou effects the artic people of Alaska and Canada, so I will not agrue about that anymore, considering that it seems you know more about it then me.

However, I am sure that where ever wolves are they are killing livestock, and probably surplus killing too.

In the ten years that I lived in Alberta there was never once an occurence of wolves attacking livestock. At all. Just seeing wolves out on the prairies would be newsworthy, so an actual wolf attack would have definitely made quite a ruckus. Even here in B.C., the wolves do their best to avoid being near human populations. It's also rare to see them when you go out hiking in the backcountry.

Now, on the other hand, in B.C. we have quite a problem with bears and cougars coming near towns... 'Though with the bears I'd say the attacks are more thanks to stupid people who don't know how to keep their distance and remain calm when they see a bear crossing the street ("look at the bear! Let's go in closer so we can get better pictures!"). The illegal trade of bear paws and gall bladders is reducing the population though >_>'
Planning on heading into the backcountry here? Better bring bear spray (and don't bother coming here to see wolves unless you're visiting a zoo or travelling with a wolf expert).

I'm only human, I make mistakes sometimes.

Silly people trying to get closer to dangerous animals, I'm sure the news station your working for would appreciate you being in one piece c:

^ Oh, no, not news stations. It's just general people (usually tourists). Bear attacks do happen in the backcountry to seasoned hikers as well though, which is why I always recommend taking bear spray.

I'm just throwing some stuff out there. We really don't have that many wolves up here. Sure, wolves aren't critically endangered, but going on an outright tirade against them isn't any more productive than going on a tirade about saving them... The only difference is it's more negative ._.

I've never seen a wolf out in the wild, and I've lived my entire 20 years up here. Dogs in Canada magazine published a write-up about a lady's encounter with a wolf while walking her dogs, but in general I don't hear much about wolves.
For the record, the lady and her dogs were fine. The wolf stared at them for a bit then moved on, and she high-tailed it back to her car just in case the pack was around.

This is kind of late... but the bear is my spirit animal too x3 I just got my first bear fetish in AZ (no one in delaware sells fetishes...) and a pouch to keep it in. The pouch is a little big, but i can fit others in there too then :)

Bears are just as cool as wolves!

I'm not trying to go on a tirade against them, I'm just saying that I support killing over populated animals. If it was black bears becoming over populated, I'd be fine with that too. However, I just felt that it was a bit akward with people saying save the wolves even though they are least concern c:

They are cool. They, like all predators, definitely need to be respected. I wish more people would take precations when out and about in the wilderness, and that people would stop doing things like feeding bears. Bear bells actually attract bears now, rather than scare them away, thanks to people being careless with food. In general we're pretty good up here with humanely relocating bears and cougars that are becoming too dangerous for humans, but sometimes they come back and end up needing to be shot.
I don't know what my spirit animal would be. I think it'd be a crow though; I just feel a connection to crows. Or maybe a cougar? As a kid I had an imaginary cougar that would follow me around lol. Is there anything you had to do to find out your spirit animal?
I don't have any Zuni fetishes, but I do have a spirit token with an orca on it: http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t33/ ... CF1669.jpg

Black bears, like wolves and caribou, are also classed as least concern. Least concern does not automatically mean overpopulated.
