I'm okay with it as long as:
A) It's done humanely and quickly
B) It's only to control overpopulation
C) The...er..leftover wolf is put to good use. E.g: it's cooked and eaten.

I'm assuming you mean the Northwest Territories? And by Native you mean Aboriginal/First Nations, and not simply natives of Canada? I can't say I've ever tried caribou... Or that the majority of the Natives ("Indians") in the southern provinces have much to do with caribou... We farm elk ("wapiti"! x3) quite a bit though, but that's different. I can't say I've ever eaten elk though, either.
Caribou are classed as least concern, same as the gray wolf. They're not in any more or less trouble. The main concern with animals like caribou is avoiding damage to the lichen supplies.
Again, I stated that you can correct me If I am wrong. I am against sterotyping people, I don't think that's right.
I have not researched enough on this topic to know a lot about it, but if anybody knows the effect caribou has on people in Alaska and Canada I would be glad to hear it, I do know that tame caribou(Reindeer) are often raised among the artic people of Alaska and Canada according to a few websites, and those people are who I was refering too.

They go to the grocery store.
Do people seriously think we live in igluus and drive dogsleds up here to survive? I thought that was just a running joke in America o_O
We just do that stuff for fun. It's skookum. There are people out there that do depend on the caribou for their meat and DONT have access to a grocery store. Its vital that wolf populations are kept down, or these types of people ( not being racist toward the natives. ) will die out due to starvation.
Renki wrote:wow I am supprised that no wolf lovers arent trying to distroy this topic. lol
I support fully.
Even if some go to the grocery store. Others dont have the money. It is in fact to go out cheaper to go out and hunt your own food. Who is to say that some dont do that.
Heck right now I am talking to a guy who hunts and he said he can probably get me around 80 pounds of meat for around $50.
Meaning I would be paying around .60 or more cents per pound. For the cheapest meat (which is the turkey) is .91 per pound.

Toru wrote:^ Oh, no, not news stations. It's just general people (usually tourists). Bear attacks do happen in the backcountry to seasoned hikers as well though, which is why I always recommend taking bear spray.
I'm just throwing some stuff out there. We really don't have that many wolves up here. Sure, wolves aren't critically endangered, but going on an outright tirade against them isn't any more productive than going on a tirade about saving them... The only difference is it's more negative ._.
I've never seen a wolf out in the wild, and I've lived my entire 20 years up here. Dogs in Canada magazine published a write-up about a lady's encounter with a wolf while walking her dogs, but in general I don't hear much about wolves.
For the record, the lady and her dogs were fine. The wolf stared at them for a bit then moved on, and she high-tailed it back to her car just in case the pack was around.

Bears are just as cool as wolves!
.:Mook:. wrote:I'm not trying to go on a tirade against them, I'm just saying that I support killing over populated animals. If it was black bears becoming over populated, I'd be fine with that too. However, I just felt that it was a bit akward with people saying save the wolves even though they are least concern c:
