This is the exact cage I have. The only entrance is the top so as you can see the two shelves block getting tour hands down there unless your at an awkward angle. I filled the Frank up more than halfway so they lots and lots of room to burrow. I pit their wheel okn the second shelf next to water which I put in the corner.

I just have a regular old 10 gal tank. It seems to work fine for them and even though it is a little on the smaller side, it's enough room for them to run around and burrow and everything. I'll post a pic of my gerbils soon. ^.^

UPDATE

I cleaned out their cage today and they both let me pick them up after a minute of debate. I put them back in and they are now so happy. Geronimo lets me pick him up whenever. He also almost fell off the upper lvl again onto the ramp, trying to get some food.

Vincent isn't afraid of people coming into the room anymore and climbed up the ramp to greet me for the first time since we have had him!

Also... I found the culprit of the missing food bowl. Geronimo pushes the food bowl from the upper lvl to the second shelf and then down the ramp and buries it randomly under the bedding. Like what the freak? But it's also very cute although he got stuck today on the second shelf because the food bowl was blocking the exit.

Hi! I have a question. My gerbils are always active and run around a lot. The other day, I was watching a movie when I heard a couple of soft bumps. I assumed it was one of them just drinking water. But more followed. Is there any type of a bigger, more accommodating cage where they won't bump into walls?

Pip Passed away Yesterday, And i have no idea why. She seemed really happy, And was running around her cage just yesterday. Rip Pip.

But more followed. Is there any type of a bigger, more accommodating cage where they won't bump into walls?

I am not sure of any bigger cages but sometimes a reallyyyy large tank sometimes helps.
My gerbils still claw at the tank glass thinking they can dig through. At least they don't now that was only when I first got them.
