Mealworms. But it says to use 1-2 times a week on the can thing. I feed him every other day

Mealworms should be provided every day,so your gecko gets food whenever they need it. My gecko hunts when she likes,and her mealworms or crickets never dry out. I give her crickets,and sometimes mealworms. It's easier for them to get a couple crickets a day,because I've noticed she kinda evens out when she hunts each cricket.

The only reason I don't feed him every day is because of the fact they are always dead. Sometimes there are still some live ones when I feed him again.

Grrr.. Dustin refuses to eat his food unless I put his calcium supplement on it, but I can only do it twice a week. xP
Any suggestions for other things i can put on his food so he eats more??
Im getting tired of the dead worms and worm sheds everywhere....

Get a small dish and place 100% pure calcium powder in the tank at all times. Use a calcium powder with D3 2-3 times a week on feeder insects. Rep-cal is the best brand. Get rid of the mealworms as a staple, as they are horrible, and switch to crickets and a softer bodied, more nutritious worm like phoenix worms. Mealworms are acceptable treats, if your gecko really likes them, but it doesn't sound like he does. Other insects could also be fed, such as roaches and wax worms, but you will need to find a place to get juveniles or start breeding. Feeding a variety is best for your lizard, and don't forget to gut load. If Dustin is an adult, feeding him every other day is fine as long as his weight and health are good.

I'm not really sure why, but everytime I try to get my geckos to eat mealworms, or smaller crickets instead of the usual larger crickets they refuse to eat them...

And it's also sad because evry day when I put 4-6 crickets in there, Ragnarok eats all but one and leaves Crona to fight for the last one. Now Ragnarok is ridiculously fat and Crona is... not unhealthily skinny, but skinny. So now we gotta take Ragnarok out while Crona eats...

It's official. Honey has taken a dump on me the most. At least four times! In two weeks! I might start giving him warm bathes to get him to poop before handling him.

He seems fine with mealworms, I don't think crickets are needed. I just fed him the calcium worms and he ate all of them in like a minute! I went to fill up his spray bottle and they were gone when I came bak xD
he is still healthy, he is nice and plump and sheds much easier than he used to.(btw, Dustin is about 6 inches, he is still young and not full grown, not sure exactly how old he is)

Mealworms' shells are pretty hard, I heard they can cause impaction. Is he pooping well? I'd just give him crickets, I don't think they're any harder than mealworms to obtain.
Speaking of getting feeder insects, where do you buy yours? I think Honey would appreciate some crickets, and I'd like to see how a slow little guy like him goes after 'em.

Also, I know this is the lizard thread, but UGH. Some of the ads on Craigslist! I just saw someone selling a 3ft red tail boa.. being kept in a 10 gallon. I put my 3 ft BP in an empty 10 gallon so I could look under the glass and get some belly scale pics, and he was cramped. XD

I get worms from petco usually. I don't want crickets because I keep Dustin in my room and I don't want to listen to their chriping all night!!! XP
