I'm so sorry for Eva and your family.

As far as meat the only other thing I could think of is discount supermarkets like Aldi's or places like Costco/Walmart. Look around for sales, check out flyers, search for coupons, etc.

A good thing to do is post on local sites asking for freezer burnt meat! Just make sure you check it all out and that it's safe c: If you're going to do proper raw, it's best to start with chicken and only introduce proteins when stool is firm - and organs such as kidney and liver (which will make up 10% of the diet, half of which has to be liver) last. For now, if she's eating I'd stick to it, and wait for the lab results.

@RWBY Rose
That's such a frustrating situation. I understand not wanting to start stuff with family though. It really becomes a choice between your discomfort vs theirs (with consideration for the pups wellbeing too of course).
Others might disagree with me, but my feeling is that you have no obligation to the pup if you didn't agree to become his owner. From what I can tell you want to share a very strong bond with your dog, and if you are going to resent him (totally not your fault) it just wouldnt be fair to either of you.
I think you mentioned getting multiple dogs at some point? Is there any way you can make this guy your SO's dog, with the understanding that when you are ready for another dog you get to pick it? Perhaps that might help with the frustration.

----------------------

I got some 100/180 grit nail files for Olive and I'm super happy with them. Getting her to like the clippers using CC/DS is slow going but since she is fine with paw handling the file works perfectly. I highly reccomend them, even if your dog doesn't mind the clippers because they can smooth any sharp edges left afterwards. Plus they are pretty cheap, about $1.50 each or so.

Have you had dogs before? What breeds? Yes, I've had 6 in total, a yorkie, 3 chihuahuas, a chiweenie, and a miniature pinscher
Are there any breeds that have already caught your eye? If so, why? Yes. Golden retrievers, BMDs, and irish setters because I've always wanted a big dog that I can take everywhere and cuddle with :) my mom wants a Brittany too.
How much time a day do you have to devote to training your dog? However much the dog needs
What kind of grooming needs are you prepared to handle? Not too often, as I already have dogs.
What kind of energy level are you looking for? Low energy, my mom wants to sleep with it at night.
What do you plan on doing with your dog? Taking it everywhere, cuddling, playing outside, going on river walks.
What size dog are you wanting? medium-ish? definitely not great dane sized.
What age dog are you looking for? We usually get pups, but whatever age.
What kind of livestyle do you live? (Active, couch potato etc) Im definitely not a couch potato, but I don't do hikes and stuff. I usually do casual walks along the river.

Hey guys! We just neutered our six month old golden retriever puppy and I'd love some on advice on how to make things easier for him or what to look out for. Any help would be greatly appreciated! <3

(Also, are there any alternatives to cones?)

Kes got mail yesterday! Her new Hogwarts robe! Unfortunately it’s too small 😭 so gonna have to see what can be done.

Also I love my agility instructor, she’s so nice! Texted to check on me today and offered to let me come out and watch once I feel up to it. So I’ll def have to take Octavia up to say hi to everyone once she comes home! She also offered to try running Kestrel for me, so I may have her try that at some point. Not sure if Kes will run for her but doesn’t hurt to try lol

Btw any must have toys for puppies? Doing some shopping for Octavia and I swear my brain is mush, I can’t remember what all I need to buy!

I think I saw something before that could act as a cone-alternative. It's a collar, but it's really thick and tubular so the dog can't really bend all that much to bite or lick at an incision site. It's kind of like a neck-pillow you'd use on an airplane. It's much comfier for the dog as it's fabric and soft instead of a harsh sharp plastic edge.
