i recently discovered a really neat 3-in-1 cat stroller. it's a stroller that also detaches to use as a carrier and it has a booster seat to buckle into your car. i think that is so neat and im definitely going to get one 😂 i already take my kitties on walks and i do already have a stroller but im not biggest fan of it. this one looks sooo nice.

Kitten went for her spa day.

Postby ShunXDan » Wed Apr 01, 2026 9:51 am

I recently adopted a colony cat, she's the sweetest thing!

Yes, she chose me. Yes, she chose to be an indoor cat. Yes, I can tell she feels safe in the house. No, I didn't force her to stay inside against her will. She's stayed with me before when she had a cold and absolutely did NOT want to go back outside.

Anyway, I'm suffering with separation anxiety. Because I knew this was coming I haven't gotten as many tokens as I'd like. I haven't finished my sewing project. I don't have the irl Easter eggs ready. The last two days I've been like, am I doing the right thing? What if something goes wrong? Is this really the best thing for her?? She's strictly an indoor cat now.

Yes. Yes, taking her in for a spa day is the best thing for her benefit.

She's having her spa day tomorrow morning.

If all goes well I can pick her up Thursday morning.

I'm still worried.

I just needed to put my feelings somewhere.

(No, I am not asking for tokens or pets. Please do not send me anything.)

That’s nice.
Well…we have indoor cats that had lived outside as strays. No one is accusing you (unless someone Irl is, in which case I’m sorry.)

Sorry to hear that.

Nice. She might like that.

That’s good to hear.

You’re allowed to worry.

I am not at all looking for medical advice as my cat has been diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and has been prescribed meds by a vet. I am only looking for advice to ease symptoms.

She was diagnosed only yesterday (but has been sick since Friday) and has only had 2 rounds of medicine so far but hasn't been eating since yesterday. She has been drinking water in very little amounts. I am wondering if anyone has dealt with this before and can lend me some advice that can help encourage her to eat and drink more. She's not all food motivated and only eats when she needs to.

As for drinking water, she has access to 3 different flowing water bowls around the house, so water isn't at all limited.

I've so far tried placing food right under her nose but she just turns around. Her food source has not moved and has been the same place as always. I saw a tip online to encourage hydration by diluting low sodium 100% pure beef broth but she didn't seem interested in it.

If it helps at all, she's 15 years old so she's considered a senior.

Thanks in advance!

Churu or meat baby foods are usually what my clinic uses to entice cats to eat. Churu even has a new nourish line meant to be very palatable and have more calories. If even highly palatable foods like Churu or other squeeze treats(or any treat she’s known to like) are a no go I would advise calling your vet back and seeing what next steps they recommend.

My cat had uri when we adopted her from the shelter. She similarly wouldn't eat due to her nose being stuffy, even when I would heat up wet food to help her smell it, she just wouldn't eat anything. I'm not sure if this is the advice you're looking for, you don't have to take it, but it helped Banshee quite a bit as nothing else seemed to help her. If this is considered medical advice let me know, I'm not trying to give any.
I was advised to get saline nose drops for newborns/infants (as it's simply just plain saline) from the store to clear my cat's nose. After a drop in each nostril, her stuffy nose cleared right up to let her eat like normal until she felt better.

Update on her. My mom and I took her to the emergency vet last night as I wasn't going to feel comfortable waiting for morning. It was too late to keep her over night at the place she went but got Sub-Q Fluid for dehydration, an injection to help give her a boost to fight back the infection, and we got sent home with prescribed saline drops for her nostrils to help her be able to smell clearer overtime. It seems she has a bit more energy today but keeps circling her food and water bowl so I am hoping she starts eating within the next day after more medicine is given to her.

EDIT UPDATE: she drank some water after getting meds!! still apprehensive about food but it's a start.

I am going to the grocery store and pet store later to get some foods for her (smelly things like tuna and fish) but I will check out the baby meat food as an idea. As for Churu, neither of my cats like it sadly.

I am going to call my primary vet today after the emergency visit to see if this is something we can do if it ever reoccurs again. I believe this is how it all started originally and it snowballed from there.

Thank you all for your help. If there's more updates I'll share whenever I can.
