Loki's not feeling too good...

Basically, to keep it short:
We noticed that he was limping last weekend and he couldn't climb at all (not that he's a great climber at the best of times but he can easily get onto my bed so when he was struggling with that, I knew something was wrong). He would walk a few metres and then sit down. So we took him to the vet and the vet thinks that something might have fallen on him, which has caused some soft tissue damage and possibly minor nerve damage.

So now Loki has to stay in a playpen and he has two different medicines/drugs that he needs (one for pain, one to help get his bowels moving). He's getting a bit better though - he's still playful and *wants* to move, he just can't get very far. The vet thinks it'll be about six weeks until he can move comfortably again :(

The stray cat that I posted about a while ago was taken to our local animal shelter. Apparently he is a neutered male. We went back a few days later and he had already been adopted c:
I'm so happy that he found his forever home!

Hey everyone! I’ve noticed something odd that my cat does, and I was wondering if anyone else’s cat was doing this or how they solved it?

So my furry boy, Ashur, is a polydactyl. He doesn’t really like to chew on or trim his extra toe claws, and he won’t let us do it for him. He refuses to clean his toes, and I don’t want his claws to cut him and get infected because he doesn’t clean them.

Does anyone else have a cat that doesn’t like to clean itself, and hates being bathed? What did you do to help coax it into cleaning itself lol

I dont know if this applies to cats, BUT when I owned rats if they weren't cleaning themselves and just kinda letting themselves go, coconut oil was a safe thing to rub on them to encourage grooming .
Can someone confirm if this is okay with cats ?

This is my cat Misty, she's a main-coon x russian blue. I've posted a pic of her before.

This pic was taken Christmas Day 2019. February 2020 she will be 18 years old.
Her eyesight and hearing is half gone, she's got arthritis in her hips and back legs, so she spends most of her time indoors now.

Yep that's a bow on her ear off one of the presents. She looked at me like "Really human really?" Me "At least it's not the Santa hat Mist."

Merry Christmas to all kitty's and their humans, Misty :D

i just caught tiny peeing and pooping on the floor outside of the litter boxes. i don't know what to do. she's always done this and every time i go to clean the litter boxes there's always something of hers nearby. recently my dad discovered she's also been peeing on an old comforter that we had stored in the basement. tonight when i caught her she was peeing on an old carpet also stored down there that was beside one of the boxes. i know there are reasons to explain why a cat might go outside their box but for tiny i can't figure it out. like i said she's always gone out of the litter box at least once a week if not more. i think percy may be taking her lead as well, while not pooping outside the boxes he's at least peeing as i've noticed the amount of pee clumps in the clumping litter we use has gone down drastically in the past week (and percy drinks a lot of water so i know he is well hydrated and pees quite a bit). it doesn't help that every time tiny does something like this i get blamed and yelled at for raising a bad cat. not to mention percy is praised like saint since he apparently can do no bad (despite constantly beating tiny up and hacking up hairballs all over the place) i just don't know what to do to stop her.

There are several things that could cause this. If the boxes aren’t cleaned often enough, that can deter them. It may also be the litter you’re using, or if you have a box with a lid, sometimes cats don’t like the concentration of smell. I’d recommend taking the lid off or trying another litter. Some cats who are declawed tend to go outside the box so if they are, that could be it. If they’re not fixed, marking could be a reason for that. It could be out of stress. My best recommendation would be to switch your litter around, clean the spots thoroughly, and most definitely discuss it with your vet. Best of luck <3

does anyone know of cat treats/bribes for cat with "tummy trouble"? I don't think Gary can easily eat temptations and wisker's brand without giving him pudding poo.

This is a suggestion simply going off my Sisters partners cat, Jacan, as they said they had to try different foods or she'd have tummy trouble.
I'll try to post some pics of brands she was given and was fine with.
Image
She'd be given these as a treat in the kangaroo flavor. We were also getting the regular size packs for Misty, sand Jacan was fine eating any of the flavors.

Image
We were giving this brand to my cat Misty, sensitive tummy Jacan came along and ate some, there were no ill effects, and she'd get super excited to have a serve. (I think Jacan liked this though as we'd get different flavors, as her owner would get the same flavor all the time of the Optimum below.)

Image
This is the main brand Jacan was getting, her tummy and poop improved, and she was fine.

Hopefully this is helpful. Suggestions through experiencing a cat with tummy troubles, and finding these brands her poops were regular.
-------------------------
Thanks to non stop rain last night I've got a poop mess to clean up, Misty is almost 18 years old, I guess it was too wet and she couldn't hold it. She usually just waits for a break in the rain and pops out her cat door, and does her thing before the rain starts heavy again. No she doesn't mind rain, if it's not too heavy she actually sits in it for a while sometimes.

I would suggest just trying to get him used to having his paws cleaned. Start off slowly, giving him treats and stopping when he starts to get irritated. Eventually, he should be okay with you touching his paws for cleaning. It'll take some time and a lot of patience, but with enough bribes and gentle coaxing he should come around. I wouldn't recommend rubbing anything in his fur.
