Just bought two apple snails the other day. So cute! They are just my little helpers. They're making the tank look clean as ever and they're so cute. Any name ideas? One's an albino, and one has a shell mixed with different shades of brown :P

I have a purple apple snail and I absolutely adore him, but there are two things that kind of surprised me:

1 - They grow really fast. In six months mine went from a tiny fingernail sized critter to bigger than a pingpong ball - and he's still growing!

2 - They poop SO MUCH. I think mine is going for a world record - he poops more than the rest of the tank inhabitants combined!

edit: Oh, what I have...
How many fish tanks do you have: Just one, about 33 gallons.
Types of fish that you have: Male guppies, otos, neon tetras and an apple snail.
Your fishs' names: Guppies are Athos, Aramis, Captain, Small Yellow, Fatty and FancyPants; oto-trio is called The Three Amigos, my ten neons don't have individual names and the snail is Endel.
How long have you had fish: Six months.

yeah, they do. go to pet supplies > fish > live fish/inverts/whatever you want
but if you're like me and can only have gender-specifics, it's really hard to try to get fish on ebay :/

Do any of you know of fish that would eat small livebearer fry, but not the livebearer adults? They'd have to get along with angelfish and gouramis too, eventually xD Ughh I'm having such a trouble with this D|

Guppies ( I recommend just males or it won't help the problem)
A docile female betta
A cichlid ( Just one or just one gender)

Hope this helps!

I'd think female betta would be your best bet. not sure how well she'd get along with the gouramis and angelfish though

What about a small gourami? I'm not sure if they eat fry, but they're big enough. Powder Blue Dwarfs don't get too big.

If worst comes to worst, maybe just scoop out the fry and dump them in with the angels as a treat? I do that with mine (I give extra babies to my bettas and sunfish)

Ah, yeah, a female betta would be nice but I think she'd fight with the angel x3
I'm getting the angel last to lessen chances of aggression, but the angels at my store are really tiny (nickel-quarter sized?) so I'm worried that I'd be over run with grown up livebearer babies by the time the angel was big enough xD
Oh, would DGs eat fry? I'd be getting those before the angel so that could be a solution. Also considering a small school (6-8) of long finned zebra danios to deal with the fry but I'm worried they might cause nippiness so I'm not sure xD
Orr I could ditch my obsession with swordtails and get all female platys instead xD Derp. That might be smarter :'P

The order I'm hoping to add fish to my tank is this;
- 3-5 bronze cories
- 3 swordtails
- 2 DGs (One powder blue, one flame; from what I've read they won't fight if they're different color variants but I'm unsure on this, might just add 1)
- 1 angel

And somewhere in there, some kind of other fish ... whether it's a school of zebra danios or harlequin rasboras something ... xD Something to deal with fry but also lively and fun to watch in the tank.
If I ditched the swords altogether I'm not sure what Id substitute in, some female platys + some littler fish? Dunno. xP I just want the tank to have interesting color and activity and not look too empty y'know?
