Thank you! ^^ The photo contest was won by a poodle, but thank you for the well wishes just the same!
She's a little off the edge of 'well mannered', haha! Half the time, she's like a bull in a china shop (except in public - she turns into this amazingly well behaved dog >_>). But I love my moose just the same. ^^
I call her moose because she seems so big in our house full of small dogs, but she's actually under the standard of a female Golden.

Yesterday, July 4th, marked me and Dixie having been together for 3 years. It was July 4th 2011 when I brought home my little fireball. Haha who knew that little round pup who tired herself out so quickly, would become one of the most active dogs I've ever worked with.
Love you, Lou! ♥

Thanks ^^
We celebrated yesterday afternoon and into evening before the fireworks started going off by letting her play and train with the neighbor kid (she's like 12-13??) and hang out with several of the neighbor families who came over to visit. And we went for a walk- oh almost forgot!! There was a hound barking at Dixie from his yard and she didn't react badly! You could almost see her thinking about barking, but she chose not to! She got a ton of praise and some treats for making that decision.
I just love watching her think and make (good) decisions by herself.

Dix did pretty well. All the new smells got her a little distracted though. We'll be walking and training there more often hopefully. c:
She got to meet the manager of Hobby Lobby (great lady and my sister's boss) but BARKED AT HER at first. Not an aggressive or fearful bark, but like an omg who's she I have to say hi!! bark. Which is unusual considering how reserved Dix usually is. She greeted her was rubbing on the manager's legs like she does when I come home. Just, what?
little traitor WHAT IS WITH THAT!? I feel betrayed ; _ ;The manager admitted she thought Dix was an Irish Setter at first when she saw us outside until my sister corrected her. Said she's never seen a red Golden!? I got to talking with her and she had a Golden who passed 2 yrs ago at age 10. Her Scottie (13 yrs) mourned for 2 months and cried over the Goldens grave in the backyard. So sad.

Okay, well, I guess I can understand a teeny bit why some people might mistake Dixie for an Irish Setter at first.
besides that she's way too short to be an IS and doesn't have that 'setter head'This boy looks a lot like Dix (except that he's a bit lankier and head is different)

Dixie:

I was going to say the above setter's ears are set lower too, but I guess not.
