But has anyone else thought of what a wolf golden retriever mix would look like? I think it would depend on the breed of Woolf. But that is awesome

They look weird because the pure red wolves have more or less died out; the "red wolves" you see everywhere are just Grey wolf/Coyote mixes. c;

Um, red wolf/coyote mixes... I'm sure there are gray wolf/coyote mixes, but the "red wolves" are now mostly red wolf/coyote mixes. It's not that red wolves are endangered, it's that purebred ones are.

Or a coyote. I love Coyotes, they really represent me.
Because Coyotes are loners, where as Wolves need a pack.

It's debated if "red wolves" were ever anything more than grey/coy hybrids. Current science is saying that the "pure" strain was never really pure to begin with.

Guys, judging appearance has nothing to do with this topic. And it could be offensive. let's not continue rambling about what species are pretty and what aren't. who cares.
besides red wolves, look a lot like coyotes. so i don't see why you like coyotes and think red wolves are ugly.

And I agree with Jazi. Though, I have my own theory. I think The gray wolf and the coyote interbred, but over time, the sub-species evolved enough genetically to be considered it's own species. It's true roots were probably still the Gray wolf and the coyote, though.

I think you might be thinking of the maned wolf or "fox on stilts" which isn't even a wolf at all. it is its own thing. Otherwise, I have no idea what you're talking about. Red wolves are almost exactly the same in appearance to coyotes. Unless you have been looking at pictures of starving, diseased, or otherwise emaciated red wolves?

Back on topic,
has anyone been to the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center?
It's more of a place for people here who are against wolf hunting, but it's very nice. It doesn't necessarily force things on you, they just give you the facts to form your own opinion. Although their over all goal is still to save wolves.

To be honest, I don't advocate wolf hunting for pleasure. But if it's population control. I have strict rules. No killing pups (because they are from the alpha) and never killing the alphas. That's just stupid. I may hate the idea of the death of the beautiful creature. But I would participate because I wouldn't let them suffer. I would take their pelt and meat and bones so nothing went to waste in their death. Just cause I would rather then suffer a painless death then a slow death of starvation and the ENTIRE pack die
Kinda like let there be matrys of the pack instead of the entire pack dying
