Sure they have the same basic emotions - affection, fear, anger, sadness.. But how else are they like people? Just curious on why you think that..

true, it is possible, and that is why i believe that the red wolves in the wild are located in a hunting-free area. but tbh they really could benefit from some major coyote control.

and yes, how else are wolves like humans? i mean, even with affection, they show it quite a bit differently than we do. though i suppose i see where you're coming from.

the only place in my country we have wolves is in the zoo because they were hunted to extinction centuries ago. . .

Well, centuries ago there weren't laws like there are today. It's pretty much impossible for wolves to go extinct, at least due to hunting, in the areas they're in these days. We have so many regulations, organizations and so on to protect their population from ever going extinct.

also, you have to keep in mind that back then, they were trying to push wolves into extinction. it was a dumb thing to do, but we know better now, and hunting is really nothing at all like it used to be.

@ wolf love -
not necessarily, but coyotes are one of the main threats to red wolf recovery. they commonly interbreed with each other, thus lowering the amount of pure red wolves, as well as pose a threat to them through competition for food, land, etc.

Hey guys.
This is being said as a person who does like wolves, and means no offence, but are wolves really a species we need to focus on as much? I mean, yeah, they are endangered, or mainly, rather under risk of being so, but there are so many species that are in worse danger. Why not try to protect the copperbelly water snake, the Hawaiian hoary bat, relict leopard frog, giant kangaroo rat? Wolves are better known, they have more support.
Sometimes I think the only time people are interested in saving animals is when the animals are fluffy. And have cute pups that look like our dogs...
